    LOCKPORT -Mrs. Amy
    C. Buchanan, 67, widow of
    former N i a g a r a County
    Clerk Ross G. Buchanan
    and an active church, school
    and civic leader here for a
    number of years, died Monday
    (Dec. 11, 1961) at Lockport
    Memorial H o s p i t a l
    after an extended illness.
    Mrs. Buchanan made her
    home at 71 Washburn St. During
    the winter months. She
    spent her summers at Chautauqua.
    Her husband died in
    August 1955.
    Born in Holley. Dec. 5. 1894.
    daughter of Fred I. and May
    Belle Carrier Crane, Mrs.
    Buchanan lived here since
    she was 2. She was a graduate
    of Lockport High School, attended
    the National School of
    Home Economics, Washington,
    D.C, and University of
    Buffalo. She was a graduate
    of Rochester Institute of Technology.
    She served on library staffs
    of the Young Women's Christian
    Association at Buffalo,
    Lockport and Troy. She was
    a member of Grace Episcopal
    Church where she spent nine
    years on the church executive
    board and served as treasurer
    of the w o m e n ' s auxiliary,
    Episcopal Diocese of Western
    New York. She was also diocesan
    United Thanksgiving
    secretary' and a past member
    of Episcopal Cottage Board
    of Chautauqua.
    She was the-past president
    of the Washington Hunt PTA,
    director of the Niagara-Or-
    leans District PTA, and a
    nine-vear member of the state
    board of the State PTA Con-:
    gress.
    Surviving are a son. Ward
    C. Buchanan. Nixon, N.Y;; two
    brothers. Dudley and Evan
    Crane, both of Lockport; and
    five grandchildren
    Very Rev. L. Russell Foster,
    dean of Niagara and rector of
    Grace Episcopal Church
    conduct services at 10:30
    Thursday at Prudden & Kandt
    Home. Burial will be •
    in Glenwood Cemetery
