    Marcia (nee Filicetti) Urbaniak, age 65, of Niagara Falls, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at her residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, on June 14, 1950, she was the daughter of Marie (nee Vilardo) and the late Louis Filicetti.

    Marcia grew up in the LaSalle section of Niagara Falls and attended Prince of Peace Grade School, Madonna High School, Niagara County Community College, Fredonia State College (where she earned her Bachelor's in Education), and did graduate work at Niagara University. She began her teaching career in the 1970's at St. Joseph's School in Niagara Falls and then was employed by the Niagara Falls Board of Education. She taught Adult Education, GED, Opportunities Unlimited, and English as a Second Language.

    Marcia enjoyed reading, sewing, cross stitching, and tending to her flower garden. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren.

    She is survived by her husband, Stephen J. Urbaniak; her children, David (Amanda) Urbaniak of Grand Island and Teresa (Cris) Chapman of Clarence Center; five grandchildren, Dean, Madelyn and Mason Urbaniak, and Olivia and Joseph Chapman; her mother, Marie Filicetti; and three sisters, Gloria (Chris) Stanz of North Tonawanda, Gilda Bonnevie of Grand Island and Patricia (Sam) Giambattista of Niagara Falls, NY. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Friday only at the LABUDA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 356 Portage Road, Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday at St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 259 4th Street, Niagara Falls. Friends invited. Please assemble at church.

    If desired, memorials to Roswell Park Cancer Institute are preferred by the family.

    HAMBURG — Louis F. Filicetti, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, went to be with Our Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Autumn View Healthcare Facility in Hamburg, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Francis and Gilda (Battafarano) Filicetti.

    Louis was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as a Technician 5th Grade with Company B 809th Engineer Aviation Battalion from January 6, 1942, until his honorable discharge on July 2, 1945. He was involved in the battles and campaigns in Algeria-French Morocco, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Sicily and Southern France, and was awarded a European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was employed as an electrician at Union Carbide in Niagara Falls and retired in 1980, after 41 years of service.

    Louis was an active member of Prince of Peace Church as well as their St. Vincent de Paul Society, Legion of Mary, Holy Name Society and Over the Hill Gang. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council and the Town of Wheatfield Lions Club for 25 years. Louis was an avid bowler and member of the St. Joseph Holy Name Society team in North Tonawanda, NY. He also enjoyed golfing, lawn bowling and family gatherings. One of Louis' greatest pleasures was passing on his favorite recipes to his four daughters and grandchildren.

    Louis is survived by his wife, Marie (Vilardo) Filicetti; four daughters, Gloria (Chris) Stanz of North Tonawanda, NY; Marcia (Stephen) Urbaniak of Niagara Falls, NY; Gilda Bonnevie of Grand Island, NY; and Patricia (Serofino) Giambattista of Niagara Falls, NY; seven grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren; one sister, Rose (late Fred) Layo of Florida; one brother, Guido (Grace) Filicetti of Lewiston, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Mary (late Peter) D'Ambrosio and one brother, Edward (late Rose) Filicetti.

    Louis' family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Autumn View Healthcare Facility for the compassionate care and comfort given to Louis.

    Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Saturday, April 6th at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Vincent de Paul at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Andrew Lauricella and Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S., officiating. Entombment with military honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

    Marie A. Filicetti, 99, of Niagara Falls, NY went home to be with her Heavenly Father on July 14, 2020 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Grace Vilardo.
    Marie attended local schools graduating from Trott Vocational High School.  On October 6, 1945, she married Louis F. Filicetti.  Mr. Filicetti predeceased her on April 2, 2013.  During the 1940’s Marie worked at Grant’s Department Store and Kimberly Clark.  Marie was later employed as a lunch monitor from the mid 1960’s to the mid 1980’s at 66th Street Elementary School and finally LaSalle Senior High School.
    Marie loved being an active part of her community.  She knitted and crocheted newborn hats and blankets to donate to the babies in local hospitals.  Marie volunteered at Artpark as an usher and at her church.   She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society as well as the Parent Teacher Association at Prince of Peace, serving as President in 1963 - 1964.    Marie centered her life around her family.  When she wasn’t cooking for her family or volunteering at her church, you could find Marie dancing the night away. 
    Marie is survived by her children, Gloria (Chris) Stanz, Gilda Bonnevie and Patricia (late Serofino) Giambattista; her grandchildren, Michael (Joanne Willard) Stanz, Annemarie (Marc) Selvitelli, David (Amanda) Urbaniak, Teresa (Christopher) Chapman, Phillip (Danielle) Bonnevie, Julie (Christopher) Scott, Michele (William) Vaughn, Andrea (Gordon) Stevens, and Sammy Giambattista; eighteen great-grandchildren, and her brother, Thomas (late Rosemary) Vilardo as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Marie was predeceased by her daughter, Marcia (Stephen) Urbaniak, and her siblings, Sarah (late Philip) LaSpisa, Jennie (late Angelo) Muscarello, Nicholas (late Mary) Vilardo, Larry (late Lucy) Vilardo, Carrie (late Joe) Agugliaro, Josephine (late Alex) DiPaolo and Lucy (late Joseph) DeDario.
    Marie enjoyed her activities at Schoellkopf and was truly helpful to the residents there.  The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Schoellkopf for their excellent care and compassion to Marie.
    Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17 from 4 - 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304 where services will begin on Saturday at 11:45 AM followed by Marie’s Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.  Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.  Due to current circumstances, social distancing and masks will be required to adhere with current regulations.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
