Theresa K. (Martin) McDaniel, lifetime area resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. She was 55. She was born in Niagara Falls on March 6, 1961, a daughter of Alan and Thelma (Wilson-Shapiro) Martin. She attended local schools and then became a homemaker who took pride in raising her family.

Theresa enjoyed cooking and movies but her greatest joy was her time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Theresa is survived by her two children: Marykay (William) Martin-Jenkins and Brian (Brittney) McDaniel and 7 grandchildren: Hope, Faith, Lilly, Abigail, Brielle, Baylea and Brody. She is also survived by her step-mother Carol Martin and 5 siblings: Lori Shapiro, Robert (Judy) Shapiro, Tammy (Leonard) Steves, Dawn (Scott) Russell and Florn Martin. She was predeceased by her step-father Robert Shapiro in 2015.

There will be no prior visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later time to be announced. Arrangements made by the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC.

THELMA'S OBITUARY

Thelma Jean (Wilson) Shapiro, of North Tonawanda, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at home.  She was 83 years old.  She was born in Niagara Falls, New York on December 2, 1940, a daughter of Robert O. and Pearl E. (Wilson) Wilson.  She attended local schools and was a graduate of the former LaSalle Jr/Sr High School.  As a young woman, she modeled in Europe.
A homemaker, Thelma was a very active woman.  Enjoying the fun of raising her children and the company of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends.  She enjoyed skydiving, taking flying lessons; karate lessons and her lottery scratch off tickets, affectionately known as “scratch queen.” A social person, she looked forward to coffee time with her family or friends.  
She is survived by stepchildren, Lori Shapiro and Robert R. (Judy) Shapiro; two daughters, Tammy (Leonard) Steves and Dawn (Scott) Russell; a brother, Robert D. Wilson; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Robert R. Shapiro; a daughter, Theresa McDaniel; siblings, Roger Wilson; Nancy Mettler; Betty Lowell; Ronald Wilson; Charles Wilson and Sally Shobert.
Visitation Thursday from 6-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.  The interment will be private.
