    Bonnie I. Shaffer of North Tonawanda and
    Richard O. Craven of Rochester took place in
    St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in a
    double-ring ceremony - performed by Rev.
    Clarence Babe, Saturday (June 27, 1964).
    An early evening reception was given in
    the St, Johnsburg. Fire Hall.

    THE BRIDE is" the daughter of Mr. and
    Mrs. Gerald A. Shaffer, 7027 Witmer Road,
    North Tonawanda. Parents of the bridegroom
    are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Craven, 2501 Upper
    Mountain Road, Sanborn.
    Given in marriage by her father, the bride
    wore an Alencon lace tiered gown with a
    separate lace overskirt with t r a i n . Her
    flowers were roses, carnations and ivy.

    MISS CONNIE' SHAFFER was her twin
    sister's maid of honor in an afternoon gown
    of orange spice. Similarly attired in aqua,
    were the bridesmaids, Miss Karen Travis and
    Miss Linda Newton, and the junior bridesmaid,
    Miss Linda Shaffer, sister of the bride.
    Dennis Davidson Was best man and Donald
    Houser and Norman Craven ushered with
    Edward Drake, junior usher.
    The newlyweds plan a trailer trip through
    Pennsylvania before they make their home
    at 202 Saratoga Ave., Rochester.

    Gerald A. Shaffer
    Gerald A. Shaffer, age 79, of Witmer Road in Wheatfield, died February 24, 2002 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Town of Lewiston, NY. Born in DuBois, PA on February 12, 1923, to Jesse and Hazel (Bailey) Shaffer. He served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1945, in the 475th Infantry Regiment in the China, Burma and India Theatres. While serving in Burma, he was head of communications platoon and was also a forward observer for an artillery battalion. For that, he received the Bronze Star and his unit eventually received a Presidential Citation from Harry S. Truman. He was stationed in China when the war ended and was a Staff Sergeant at the time of his discharge. In 1946, he was united in marriage to Mary Horne and they moved to this area. in 1949. He was employed at International Mineral & Chemical Company for 25 years and then worked al Hooker, now Occidental Petroleum, as a boiler operator. He became Chief Engineer and Supervisor of boiler operations during the start up of the EFW (energy from waste) Plant, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, St. Johnsburg Fire Company since 1962 and a lifetime member of the National Association of Power Engineers. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and especially loved spending time at his camp in Potter County, PA. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Shaffer; four daughters, Bonnie (Roger) Lemke, Connie (Fred) Robinson, Linda (Timothy) Tomsen, all of Wheatfield, Barbara (William) Jakobi of Lewiston; two brothers, Earl Shaffer of Niagara Falls, Blaine Shaffer of DuBois, PA; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Bud A. Shaffer; and two sisters, Dorothy Reese and Glenna Lee Shaffer. Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Ronald D. Oravec on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, corner of Niagara Falls Blvd. and Ward Rd. Interment in Niagara Falls Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or to the American Heart Association.

    NORTH TONAWANDA — Mary Louise (Horn) Shaffer, age 82, of North Tonawanda, was called to her heavenly home to be with our Lord on February 8, 2011, under Hospice care at the Northgate Health Care Facility. She was born on February 18, 1928 in DuBois, PA, to the late Oscar and Blanche (Knarr) Horn.

    Mary was a homemaker, enjoyed crafts of any kind, was an avid Bingo player, loved to play Cribbage, and travel with her late husband Gerald A. Shaffer of 56 years. The family moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1950. Mary was employed in the Niagara Wheatfield School district as a lunch aid and a librarian assistant. She was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, and the St. Johnsburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, holding many offices throughout the years.
    Mary was the beloved mother of Bonnie (Roger) Lemke, Connie (Fredrick) Robinson, Linda (Timothy) Tomsen and Barbara (William) Jakobi; loving grandmother of Jim, Jewel, Jerry, Rob, Dan, Tim, Laura, Janelle and Kayla; great-grandmother of Casey, Nick, Shawn, Alyssa, Shawn, Felicia, Daniel and Peter; dear sister of the late Lillian Brainerd-Adams, Oscar "Bill" Horn, Ruby Smith, Lee Horn and Margaret (Horn); sister-in-law to Blaine (Barb) Shaffer, the late Earl (Mae) Shaffer and Dorothy (George) Reese; also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all of us.

    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and Saturday 9-11 AM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Ronald D. Oravec on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. A private interment will take place in Niagara Falls Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, or St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Company.

    Lake Road, Ransomville, a
    former employe of the Kimberly-
    Clark Corp. plant in Niagara
    Falls, died today (Sept.
    16, 1964) at Memorial, Hospital
    after a long illness.
    Born April 23, 1897 in Clearfield
    Countyy, Pa., he lived
    in the Town of Porter for 17
    years. He was a member of
    the F i l l m o r e Methodist
    Church and was employed as
    a guard at Kimberly-Clark for
    15 years until his retirement.
    Survivors include his wife,
    Lillian (Seal) Horn; two sons,
    Oscar L. Horn, Youngstown,
    and Lee Horn, Ransomville,
    and three daughters, Mrs. William
    Brainard, Mrs. Geral
    Shaffer,. Niagara Falls, and
    Miss Margaret Horn, Ransomville.
    He is also survived by
    two step-sons, Theodore Grose,
    Ransomville; Howard Grose,
    Newark, N.Y. and a stepdaughter,
    Mrs. Charles Michel, Ransomville,
    a sister, Mrs. Henry
    Hellopeter, Clearfield, Pa.;
    two brothers, Isaac Hern,
    Clearfield; Joel Horn, DuBois,
    Pa., 18 grandchildren and two
    greatgrandchildren.
    The funeral wil lbe held at
    2 p.m. Saturday at the-Hardison
    Funeral Home, South
    Lake St., -Ransomville. Rev.
    Robert Jones of Fillmore
    Methodisjt Church will officiate.
    Burial willbe in Memorial
    Park Cemetery.
