    OBITUARY

    Honorable Catherine M.  Miklitsch of Lewiston, NY,  passed away Friday, March 12, 2021, at home from Alzheimer’s, surrounded by her sisters and brothers, under the care of her  devoted caregivers and Niagara Hospice.
    She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on April 21, 1952, the daughter of the late Robert W. and  Catherine [Berry] Miklitsch, Sr.
    Cathy attended St. Peter’s School in Lewiston and Madonna High School in Niagara Falls.  She earned her bachelor’s from Niagara University and her law degree from the Franklin Pierce Law Center in New Hampshire.  After law school, she worked at the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo, NY and the Legal Aid Society of Rockland County, NY.   She then became the  Hearing Examiner and later a Magistrate, in the State of New York Family Court of Rockland County.
    Cathy received numerous awards for her leadership and contributions to the legal profession.   She was
    a member of the New York State Bar Association and the New York State Women’s Bar Association,
    as well as Past President of the Rockland County Bar Association and the Rockland County Women’s
    Bar Association.
    She was the wife of the late Raymond T. O’Connell, who passed away on December 22, 2008.  
    Cathy was the mother of Raymond M. O’Connell, sister of Sister Teresa Miklitsch, OSF,  
    Mary Fran (Donna Pavetti) Miklitsch, Rosemary (Jim) Rapino, Robert and David and
    was the aunt of Audrey Miklitsch, Cai and ZhenHua Pavetti.
    Her family will be present on Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the
    RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY.    Friends are
    invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 9:30 AM at St. Peter's
    Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY, with the Rev. Cole Webster officiating.
    Due to current regulations, facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
    Flowers are gratefully declined.   Memorials may be made in her name to the
    Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
    Interment in Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake, NY.

    Notes:

    Of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at her home under the care of her family and Niagara Hospice. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on August 3, 1925, the daughter of the late Dr. George D. and Catherine [Brett] Berry.

    Kitty graduated from Stella Niagara Elementary School and Stella Niagara Seminary. She earned her Bachelor's of Arts degree in English from Nazareth College in 1947 and a Masters of Arts from Niagara University in 1949.

    A member of St. Peter's Church, she taught religious education and was the first woman on the Parish Council. Kitty was a poet, writer and for twenty years was an active participant in the Workshop of the Association of Professional Women Writers. Her poetry appeared in numerous literary magazines and journals, including Buffalo Journal, Piedmont Literary Review, Poetpourri, and Sacred Journal. Collections of her poems were published in two books, The Habit of Dawn and As Evening Falls.

    She is survived by her husband of 64 years Robert W. Miklitsch, Sr., two sons Robert W. Miklitsch, Jr. and David J. Miklitsch, four daughters Catherine M. Miklitsch, Sister Teresa A. Miklitsch, Mary F. (Donna Pavetti) Miklitsch and Rosemary E. (Jim Rapino) Miklitsch, three brothers Dr. George Berry, John Berry and Robert Berry, two sisters Loretta Berry and Mary Scalise, also four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

    Her family will be present on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY, with Msgr. David G. LiPuma officiating.

    Memorials may be made in her name to the Sisters of St. Francis, Heart, Love and Soul or Nazareth College.

    Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.

    George Berry, 57 years old, of No
    278 Payne avenue, a well-known resi-
    dent of the Tonawandas, died shortly
    before 6 o'clock yesterday afternoon
    at his home after a long illness. Mr.
    Berry was a pioneer planing mill oper-
    ator here, being connected with some
    of the largest mills in the Twin Cities
    before retiring a few years ago.
    Mr. Berry was born in England and
    had lived in North tonawanda for
    about 36 years, during which time he
    was identified with the lumber indus-
    try. Mr. Berry was for many years
    connected with Fenton & Sons' mill on
    Island street. In recent years he oper-
    ated mills on Island street and on Ton-
    awanda Island.
    Mr. Berry is survived by his wife,
    two sons, Dr. William T. Berry of
    Long Island City and George D. Berry
    of North Tonawanda; one daughter,
    Louise Berry of North Tonawanda;
    three brothers, Mark, thomas and
    Harry Berry of Holcomb Rocus, Eng-
    land; two sisters, Mrs. William Hill of
    Bristol, England, and Mrs. William
    Helling of Holcomb Rocus. Mr. Ber-
    ry was a member of St. Mark's Epis-
    copal church.
    The funeral will be held Thursday
    afternoon from the family home, Rev.
    G. Sherman Burrows of St. Mark's
    church officiating. Interment will be
    made in Elmlawn.

    She was the widow of George

    ago, who died in 1918.
    Mrs. Berry was born in St.
    Catharines, Out, and had lived
    in the Tonawandas 85 years. She
    was a member of Ascension
    tnurcn.
    She is survived by her daughter,
    Mrs. J. Theodore Moses, with
    whom she made her home; two
    sons, Dr. William T. Berry of New
    York City and Dr. George D. Berry
    of Niagara Falls. Eight grandchildren
    and two great-grandchildren
    also survive.
    Services will be Friday at 9:30
    a.m. hi the residence and at 10 a.
    m. hi Ascension Church. The Rev
    Francis Hunt will officiate. Burial
    will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery

    Mrs. Sua Sullivan Brett, widow
    of John T. Brett, died yesterday at
    the home of her daughter, Mrs.
    George D. Berry, 1845 Niagara avenue.
    She was 78 years old.
    Mrs. Brett had resided in thto
    city upwards of 50 years, coming
    here from Skaneatelas. N. Y. For
    many years she was active in the
    affairs of s t Mary's of the Cataract
    church and later was a mem-
    ber of St. Teresa's and Sacred Beart
    parishes. Ber husband died to 1921.
    Besides her daughter, she is survived
    by three sons, Jerome L. and
    John S. Brett, both of thto city, and
    George J. Brett, comptroller of the
    Niagara Budson Power corporation,
    New York City. She was also the
    mother of the late Francis J. Brett,
    vice-president and director of Niagara
    Budson , who died several
    years ago. Two sisters, Mrs. James
    P. Burns and Miss Agnes M Sullivan,
    both of Skaneatelas, also survive
    her.
    The funeral will be held from
    Mrs. Berry's home at 8:30 a. m. tomorrow,
    with services at Sacred
    Heart church at 9 a. m. Burial will
    be in Gate of Heaven cemetery.
