    father of North Tonawanda May-

    terday afternoon at DeGraff Me-
    morial Hospital after a long ill-
    ness.
    Mr. Rumbold, a retired Niag
    ara Falls banker, lived at 287
    Wheatfield St.,, North Tonawanda.
    He had been hospitalised
    about a month.

    year career with the Niagara
    Permanent Savings and Loan
    Association. He Joined the firm
    i n 1925 and worked in the Sav-.
    i n g s and Mortgage Departments,
    When he retired, he was assist-
    ant treasurer.
    Mr. Rumbold helped to establish
    the firm's Veterans Administration
    and Federal Housing Administration
    mortgage programs.
    He was bom in Savannah,
    Ga., where his parents had
    moved at the turn of the century.
    The family returned to Western

    North Tonawanda several years
    later.
    Mr Rumbold was a graduate
    of Tonawanda High School, the
    Nichols School of Buffalo and of
    the Wharton School of Finance
    at the University of Pennsylva-
    nia.
    He was a World War I Army
    veteran, a former trustee of the
    North Presbyterian Church,
    North Tonawanda, and secre-
    tary - treasurer of the church
    bowling league.
    While in college, Mr. Rum-
    bold was a charter member of
    Post One, American Legion,
    Philadelphia. He was also a life
    member of Tonawanda Post 264,
    American Legion, a member of
    Sutherland Lodge 826, F&AM
    Tonawanda Commandery 78,
    Knights Templar, and the Ton-
    awanda Chapter 278 Royal Arch
    Masons.
    Mr. Rumbold also was a mem-
    berof the Pennsylvania Varsity
    Club, the Pennsylvania Club of
    Western New York, Columbia
    Hook and Ladder Company; the
    North tonawanda Firemen's Be-
    nevolent Association, and the
    Motor Corps of the Tonawanda
    Red Cross Chapter.
    Mr. Rumbold at one time was
    an avid lacrosse player, an d
    while in college was a member
    of the University of Pennsylva-
    nia varsity football and lacrosse
    teams.
    Besides Mayor Rumbold, he is
    survived by his widow, the for-
    mer Myra Wagenschuetz; a
    daughter, Mrs. Jack Burnell,
    North Tonawanda; four sisters,
    Mrs. High McBride of Wood,
    Wis.; Mrs. J. Bennett Wood, Buf-
    falo; Mrs. William Johnson, Ton-
    awanda, and Mrs. Robert Ken-
    dall, of Martinsville, Ind., and
    six grandsons.
    Services will be conducted at
    1:30 p.m. Monday at the Watten-
    gel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St.,
    North Tonawanda. Burial will
    be in White Chapel Memorial
    Park, Amherst.

    The marriage, of Miss Magdelina R.
    Schuler to Mr. Philip C. Rumbold was
    celebrated yesterday afternoon at the
    residence of Mr and Mrs. John Rumbold,
    Adam street. Tonawanda. the Rev. Mr.
    Hoover officiating. The bridesmaid was
    Miss Dollie Wallace Rae of this city, and
    t h e groomsman Mr. Frank R. Rumbold of
    Tonawanda. The. bride was. handsomely
    attired in a blue traveling suit and carried
    white roses, while her maid carried pink
    roses. After the ceremony the bridal
    .party left for Buffalo, where a wedding re-
    ception was held.

    After Illness
    NORTH TONAWANDA—
    John C. Maerten, 90, of 460
    Old Niagara Falls *• Blvd.,
    died Saturday (Aug. 22,1964)
    at his home after a long
    illness.
    Mr. Maerten was a lifelong
    resident of this city
    and a member of St. Paul's
    Lutheran Church, Rescue
    Fire Company, and the
    N o r t h Tonawanda Firemen's
    Benevolent Association.
    He is survived by his wife
    Minnie Maerten; a daughter,
    Mrs. Robert Vukovic, Tonawanda;
    t h r e e sons, Irwin
    and Leroy Maerten, t.h i s
    city, and Clinton Maerten,
    California.
    Nine grandchildren and
    six great-grandchildren also
    survive.
    Funeral services will be
    conducted Monday at 2 p.m.

    MINNIE MAERTEN DIES AT 84
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday for Mrs. Minnie Maerten, 84, of 460 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda, who died today in DeGraff Memorial Hospital. She was a native of North Tonawanda and a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs Robert Vikovic, and two sons, Irwin & Leroy, a third son, Clinton in Sacramento, Calif., a brother, a sister, and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Hamp Funeral Home, Adam and Seymore Streets, Tonawanda. Burial will be in St Paul Cemetery
