    JOSEPH E. BUFFONE

    Joseph E. Buffone, 71, of Plaza Drive died Saturday (Sept. 18, 1999) in Olean General Hospital after being stricken on a visit to the Southern Tier.

    Buffone was born in Niagara Falls and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army from October 1948 to June 1952.

    After his discharge from the Army, he worked for 28 years at the former Kimberly-Clark Co. plant. After it closed, he took a warehouse job at the former Cataract Door Co., where he worked for 17 years. Buffone then worked for six years in the warehouse at Gui's Lumber, Town of Niagara, retiring in 1993.

    Buffone was a former member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club, where he taught archery. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golf, and woodworking.

    He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a member of the Italian-American War Veterans and Cataract Lodge 240, Italian Sons and Daughters of America.

    Survivors include his wife of 46 years, the former Virginia Jean Perez; two daughters, Judith A. Roche of Youngstown and Joanne Sanicola; his brother, Eugene; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Church, 14th Street and Pine Avenue.

    Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

    skinner satin. Miss Virginia Mary
    Perez was escorted to the altar of
    Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church
    this morning by her father to be-
    come., the bride of Mr. Joseph E.
    Buffone. The Rev. Edward J. Avers
    performed the ceremony, which took
    place at 9 o'clock, uniting in mar-
    riage the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
    Louis Culello. Independence avenue.
    and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex
    Buffone, Whitney avenue.
    White satin bows marked te fam-
    ily pews and the altar wasbanked
    ith baskets of mum and pompons.
    After the ceremony, the bride pre-
    sented a bouquet of white roses and
    pompons to the Blessed Virgin
    Mother.
    The former Miss Perez carried a
    prayer book centered with orchids
    and lilies-of-the-valley. Baby orchids
    were cught at the end of the foor
    length streamers The lace bodice of
    her gown was fashioned with an
    illusion neckline outlined with cut-
    out lace. Belgian lace formed the
    panier peplum which was worn over
    the full satin underskirt and train.
    Her silk hand-rolled fingertip-length
    illusion veil fell from a Belgian
    lace bonnet.
    Attending the bride were the
    Misses Marie Cavallaro, in samba, as
    the maid of honor, and the Misses
    Helen Perez ad Gladys Donatelli,
    in peacock blue, as bridesmaids.
    Their nylon ballerina-length strapless
    gowns were styled with permanent
    pleats set in the front of the skirt,
    matchingn pleated jackets completed
    their costumes,, and they wore flow-
    ered head-pieces with face veils Miss
    Cavalaro carried a cascade bouqut
    of white roses centered with streams
    of blue pompons. The bridesmaids
    carried white roses in the form of
    cascades.
    Best man was Mr.. Joseph Man-
    arino and the ushering duties were
    performed by Messers. Joseph Perez,,
    brother of the bride; Angelo Dona-
    telli and Andrew Prieto, Salvatore
    J. Costano, Jr.,, cousin of the bride,
    was ring bearer. He carried the ring
    on a white satin cushion.
    Kristine Culello served as flower
    girl for her cousin. Her white nylon
    net over taffeta gown was comple-
    mented by the basket of pink, blue
    and white roses trimmed with stre-
    mers that she carried
    Breakfast was served at te Top-
    per restaurant, and the reception this
    evening will be held at Our Lady
    of Mt. Carmel hall,, where two cen-
    terpieces of roses and pompons and
    a four-tiered square wedding cake
    will adorn the bride's table. Mrs.
    Culello will great the 400 guests
    wearing an irridescent rose cotil-
    lion dress with black accessories.
    The mother of the bridegroom will
    favor powder blue with black ac
    cessories. Corsages of orchids will
    complement their ensemble*.
    For motoring through New York
    state the former Miss Perez will
    wear a brown wool suit with beige
    accessories and an orchid corsage.
    When they return after their honey-
    moon at. Lake Placid. Mr. and
    Mrs. Buffone will reside at 1360
    Whilney avenue.
