    Notes:

    David C. Bushover, 73, of the Town of Shelby, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Buffalo General Hospital following a long illness.


    Born February 4, 1943 in Batavia, Dave was the son of the late Carl and Mae (Bistoff) Bushover. He worked many years as a mechanic for Fisher-Price Toys in Medina, was a school bus driver for the Medina Central School District and also worked as a code enforcement officer for the Town of Shelby. An active member of his community, Dave was a proud member of the Shelby Volunteer Fire Company for 54 years, where he served as Chief, President, Vice President and Treasurer.


    Dave was an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Medina, formerly served on the Town of Shelby Republican Committee, was a board member at Hospice of Orleans, was also a member and Past Master of the Medina Lodge #336 F&AM for 30 years and the Medina Lions Club for 25 years, where he enjoyed serving on the scholarship committee.


    Survivors include his wife, Donna L. Bushover of Shelby; his 3 children, Randy Bushover of Buffalo, Ryan (Deborah) Bushover of York, PA and Nicole (Brian) Mullin of Budd Lake, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Brady and Heather Bushover and Sydney Mullin; sister, Doris (Robert) Loper of TX; brother, Alan (Patricia) Bushover of Medina; and brother in-law, Charles Spencer of TX. Besides his parents, Dave was predeceased by his sister, Bonnie Spencer and brother and sister in-law, Charles (Carol) Telesco.


    As a final gift to his community, Dave donated his body to science through The University at Buffalo anatomical gift program.


    Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8PM at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. His memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Medina.


    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans- PO Box 489, Albion, NY 14411 or to one of the organizations to which Dave belonged.

    A surprise 40th anniversary
    party was held recently for
    Carl and Mae (Bistoff)
    Bushover of 5224 Salt Road, at
    the Shelby Recreational Hall.
    The party was planned by
    their children and families:
    Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Carole)
    Telesco, Mr. and Mrs. David
    (Donna) Bushover, and Mr.
    and Mrs. Alan (Patti)
    Bushover. Residing in Texas
    and unable to attend were
    children and families: Mr. and.
    Mrs. Charles (Bonnie) Spencer
    and Mr. and Mrs. Robert
    (Doris) Loper.
    The Rev. John Francisco of
    the Medina Presbyterian
    Church delivered the grace.
    Approximately 100 friends and
    relatives in attendance were
    from Medina, Albion, Akron,
    Clarence, Crittenden,
    Skaneateles, Eden, North

    Tonawanda, Clarence Center,
    Hilton, Waterport, Oakfield,
    Lockport, Buffalo, Middleport
    and Tonawanda.
    A large anniversary cake
    from BOCES, and baskets of
    red silk roses and baby's breath
    decorated the tables. A
    showcase of Mrs. Bushover's
    bridal gown and veil was also
    on display plus pictures of the
    couple in their "courting" days
    and the family as it matured.
    The couple was married on
    April 12, 1941 at the Clarence
    Presbyterian Church by the
    Rev. Ernest L. Hoover. Attendants
    were Anna Comstock,
    Harrison Longstreet, Marjorie
    and Claude Bistoff, Mildred
    and John Yotter and Maureen
    Bull.
