(nee Proefrock) Pettit, age 91, of North Tonawanda, September 12, 2013 in Lakeside Nursing Home, Hamburg. Dorothy was a lifelong member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, generously donating her time to various groups. Dorothy was devoted to her family and very present in their lives. She was the wife of the late Jack Pettit, who died in 1982. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Angela (Jonni) Pettit, Joan (Bob) Walker, Susan Penfold, Brian (Ann) Pettit, Christine (Gary) Griffin and Kathleen (Peter) Bukowsky. Grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. in North Tonawanda on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.     William H. Proefrock, 94, of North Tonawanda, Wednesday (August 5, 1987) in DeGraff Skilled Nursing Facility. Mr. Proefrock was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and a former superintendent of the Sunday School, the American Legion Post #264. He was a former postal carrier with the North Tonawanda Post Office. He was the husbamd of the late Auguste Proefrock, who died in 1970.

    He is survived by a daughter, Dorothy V. Pettit and a son, Roger W. (Jane) Proefrock, both of North Tonawanda. Eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call at the Frettold Funeral Homes, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda. Friday 7-9 P.M. and Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m.from St. Mark Lutheran Church. The Rev. Norbert Folwaczny will officiate.     She is survived by her husband, William H. Proefrock; a daughter, Mrs. (Dorothy) Pettit; and a son, Roger Proefrock, both of North Tonawanda, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Frieda Vielhauer and Mrs. Mathilda Gentzner, both of the Tonawanda, three brothers, George and Norman Ostwald of the Tonawandas, and William, Ostwald Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz. also many nieces and nephews.
