    Roger Chester Payne, age 80, of the town of Somerset, entered into rest on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born April 30, 1936 in Lockport, Roger is the son of the late: Chester and Laura Ruth (Schrader) Payne.
    Roger was owner operator of R.C. Payne Trucking of Appleton and he had worked at Oak Orchard Concrete in Medina.
    Roger married Karen "Tootie" Brigham November 11, 1961 at the Gasport Congregational Church. Karen died June 1, 1998. Roger was in the United States Air Force serving from October 1, 1961 until August 24, 1962.
    He enjoyed spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. Roger had a passion for hunting, vintage cars and trucks and loved taking care of his garden.
    Loving father of: Timothy John (Bonnie) Payne, Elizabeth Ann (Kenneth) Copella, Dale Thomas (Ginny) Payne, Andrea Lynne (Joseph) LaForest and Brenda Sue (David) Hartman. Brother of Joan (J.O.) Thompson, Loretta (Doug) McCanty, Patty (John) Chambers, Bruce (Sue) Payne, Terry (Kathy) Payne, Chub (Nancy) Payne, Jim (Nicole) Payne and the late Gene (Evelyn) Payne. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
    Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery, Gasport.

    Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J.
    Brigham Sr., Slayton Settlement
    Road, Gasport, are the
    bride's parents. The bridegroom
    is the son of Mr. and
    Mrs. Chester J. Payne, Hartland
    Road, Gasport.
    Given in marriage by her
    father, the bride was attired
    in a chapel length gown of
    satin. Lace embroidery accented
    the petal neckline and
    the waist of the princesssleeved
    bodice. Lace rose petals
    outlined with pearls held
    her bouffant veil, and she held
    a cascade of white roses.
    Pink roses formed the bouquet
    carried by Miss Sua
    Ann Brigham, the bride's sister,
    who was dressed in a
    street-length violet satin gown
    with matching headpiece.
    Attired in similar ensembles
    and carrying bouquets of
    pink roses surrounded by orchid
    pompons were bridesmaids,
    Miss Judith King, Miss
    Marilyn Roszman, Miss Patricia
    Payne, all of Gasport,
    and Mrs. Loretta Harrod of
    Barker.
    The bride's sister, Carrie
    Lee Brigham, served as flower
    girl, and was dressed in a
    white satin gown with a
    matching pillbox hat. She carried
    a basket of orchid and
    pink pompons.
    For his best man the bridegroom
    chose his brother,
    James Payne, while another
    brother, Raymond J. Brigham
    Jr., shared ushering duties
    with Gary and William Harrod
    of Barker, and John O.
    Thompson of Burt.
    A yellow rose corsage highlighted
    the blue sheath dress
    and blue and gold accessories
    worn by the bride's mother.
    Beige accessories complemented
    the brown costume
    worn by Mrs. Payne with a
    yellow rose corsage.
    Approximately 450 guests
    were received at the evening
    reception held at CIO-UAW
    Hall. Bouquets of pompons
    decorated the bride's table
    which held a five-tiered wedding
    cake topped by a miniature
    bride and bridegroom.
    Miss Carol Just and Miss
    Donna Oesterle presided at
    the punch bowl.
    When the couple left for
    their honeymoon trip to Canada,
    Mrs. Payne was wearing
    a grey suit with lemon-colored
    trim and silver accessories.
    They plan to make their
    home on the Slayton Settlement
    Road.
    Out-of-town guests attended
    from Akron, Newfane, Niagara
    Falls, and Pulaski,
    The former Miss Brigham
    is a graduate of Royalton-
    Hartland Central School. The
    bridegroom served in the U.S.
    Air Force after graduating
    from Barker Central School.

    Laura's Story
    Laura Ruth Payne, age 103, of Lockport, formerly of Hartland, entered into rest on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport surrounded by her loving family. Born August 5, 1912 in Cambria, Laura is the daughter of the late Rudolph and Minnie (Seelow) Schrader.
    Laura married Chester J. Payne on April 24, 1930 in Cambria by Reverend Woodward. Mr. Payne died October 13, 1982.
    Laura greatly enjoyed Bingo and had many lifelong friendships. She liked to crochet and made beautiful gifts for her family and friends. Her memory was vivid and she never failed to remember family events and happenings.
    Surviving Laura are her dear children, Roger (the late Karen) Payne of Appleton, Loretta (Douglas) McCanty of Florida, Joan (John) Thompson of Lockport, Patricia (John) Chambers of Florida, Kathleen (Terry) Payne of Lyndonville, Bruce (Sue) Payne of Gasport, Chester (Nancy) Payne of Middleport and James (Nicole) Payne of Barker and the late Eugene and Evalyn Payne. Sister of the late Jess Schrader, Francis Reed, Esther Reed and Christopher and Sylvia Schrader.
    Also survived by 32 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 10 am until 12 noon. Funeral Services will be held immediately following at 12 noon. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Gasport, NY.
