Robert H. Deshler, 74, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Born on May 3, 1942 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Francis Howard and Laura Louise (Farrell) Deshler.

Mr. Deshler was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. Bob, as he was known to family and friends, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He attended Erie County Tech and earned his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the former Tri-State University in Indiana (Trine University). Mr. Deshler proudly serviced in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on September 14, 1965. On March 10, 1972 he married the former Bette L. Watts. Bob was employed as an engineer for the former Harrison Radiator (Delphi), until he retired in 2000. He was a longtime, active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and served as a volunteer, with his wife, for Meals-on-Wheels of Niagara Falls.

In addition to his beloved wife of over 44 years, Mr. Deshler is survived by four children, Ceridwyn Cunningham, Chester Hampton Clark, IV, Kevin Alexander (Regina) Deshler and Lori D. (Kevin) Gantt; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Cassandra, Rhiannon (Robert), Samantha, Mason, Alexis, Dyllan and Bobby and one great-grandson, Trenton. Bob is also survived by one sister, Marilyn (Edmund) Stiles and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one granddaughter, Amberlynn Cunningham.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, September 23rd at 12:00 NOON, celebrated in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1010 Michigan Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Thomas Mason and Rev. Neil Katterman officiating. EVERYONE ASSEMBLE AT THE CHURCH. Interment, concluding with military honors, will be held in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1010 Michigan Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14305 or to Meals-on-Wheels of Niagara Falls, 1920 18th Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14305.

NIAGARA FALLS - Diana R. (nee Smith) Watts Young, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Saturday, July 5, 2014 in Schoellkopf Health Care Facility, while under the loving care of Niagara Hospice. Born on November 26, 1920 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Dr. William A. and Gypsy (Dennis) Smith.

Diana was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. She attended local schools and graduated from the former LaSalle High School. In 1972, Diana was predeceased by her first husband, Edgar J. Watts, Sr. and on July 9, 1977, she married Wilfred L. Young. Mr. Young predeceased her on July 13, 2012. Diana was employed as a secretary for the Niagara Falls Board of Education, until her retirement in the early 1980s. She was a member of the former St. Paul's Methodist Church and currently St. James United Methodist Church. Diana was also a member of the Professional Women Writers. She enjoyed spending the winter months, with her late husband, Wilfred, in Punta Gorda, FL.

Diana is survived by four children, Bronwyn (Wayne) Bridges of Texas, Bette-Lynn (Robert) Deshler of Niagara Falls, NY, Robert (Deborah) Watts of Georgia, and Edgar J. "Jim" Watts, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY, and seven step-children, Patricia (Stephen) Hurd of Florida, Christine (Ronald) Grawe of Tennessee, Charles (Christine) Young of Virginia, Kenneth Young of New York State, Judith (Samuel) Godwin of South Carolina, Michael Young of New York State, and Janet (Michael) Neuman of Niagara Falls, NY. She is also survived by several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her spouses, Diana was predeceased by one step-daughter, Rachael (David of Georgia) Walter; one great-granddaughter, Amberlyn Cunningham and siblings, Dudley (Lillian of Pennsylvania) Smith, Gypsy Smith, William (late Dorothy) Smith, Patricia (late Irving) West and Jacquelyn (late Raymond) Lester.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 10th at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Calvin Babcock officiating. Prayers of committal and interment will continue in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
