Viola Stahl, age 100, of Wolcottsville, NY, went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 21 2014 at the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Facility in Lockport following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Wolcottsville, Viola was born in the Town of Royalton on December 8, 1913, daughter of the late Andrew and Helena (Lange)Meitz.
She attended the one room schoolhouse in Wolcottsville, and was a lifetime member of Trinity Evangelical Church. Gifted with a God-given talent for singing she shared her beautiful voice in the church choir. Viola was also asked on many occasions to sing at numerous weddings. She also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends and family.
Viola was the dear wife of the late Fred Stahl, who passed away in 1981. She was loving mother of Norma (late Lavern) Rehwaldt, Charles (Cindy) Stahl, Arnold (Janet) Stahl, and the late A. Robert Stahl, and Jean Danielwicz; mother-in-law of Shirley Stahl, and Flevie Danielwicz; proud and cherished grandmother of 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren. Dear sister of Helen (late Walter) Martin, the late Florence (Alvin) Faskel and Wilfred (Virginia) Meitz. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 1:00 PM in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6369 Wolcottsville Road, Wolcottsville, NY, with pastor Rod Klingzing officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Ridge Cemetery in Royalton. There will be no prior visitation, and the family would ask for expressions of sympathy be made in Viola's name to the church or Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094. The family would also like to express their appreciation to Niagara Hospice for the exceptional care that was given to Mrs. Stahl and her family.
