    Notes:

    Mr. Harold A. Whiting, 87, of Medina, passed away on December 19, 2016 at the Medina Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
    Mr. Whiting was born in Hammond, IN, October 19, 1929, the only son of the late Ralph W. and Erma J. (Hale) Whiting. A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1947, he served with the New York National Guard and the Drum Corps. He was a great lover of dogs, enjoyed golf, bowling and played football pools.
    Mr. Whiting was employed by US Gypsum Company, Thomas J. Lipton Company and Phinney Tool & Die Company.
    Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary (Bensley) Whiting; 2 daughters, Deborah (Jeff) Foster and Melinda “Jello” Whiting; grandchildren, Stephanie (Bill) Harris, Stephen (Ashley) Foster, Thomas “T.J.” Foster, Stacey (Tim) Costich and Scott (Carrie) Colonna; great grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon, and Evan Harris, Bryson and Tessa Costich, Tucker and Jackson Colonna; “grand” dogs, Raven, Mollie, Odessa, Skye, Jack, Michone and Atlas. He was predeceased by his father, long time Medina Fire Chief, Ralph W. Whiting, his mother, Erma Whiting, his daughter, Janice Colonna and son, Barry Whiting.
    There will be no prior calling hours. A graveside committal service will be held in the spring, 2017, at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

    Mary B. Whiting, 90, of Medina passed away peacefully on August 6, 2020.
    Mary was born on March 14, 1930 in Medina, daughter of the late Gerald and Johanna (Redmond) Bensley. She worked for Fisher-Price Toys in Medina, where she eventually retired. She also was employed at Bells Supermarket. Mary was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church in Medina and had a deep love for God. She was an avid New York Yankees and Buffalo Sabres fan. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her children and grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She also played softball in the Medina women’s league for many years and bowled in area bowling leagues.
    Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harold Whiting; daughter, Janice Colonna; son, Barry Whiting; brothers, Gerald, Walter, Donald, Raymond and Robert Bensley; and her sister, Phyllis Thompson.
    She was a loving and selfless mother to daughters, Deborah (Jeffrey) Foster and Melinda “Jello” Whiting both of Medina; grandmother to Stephanie (William) Harris of Medina, Stephen (Ashley) Foster of Henrietta, Thomas Foster of Medina, Stacey Costich of Medina and Scott (Carrie) Colonna of Lockport; great-grandmother to Zachary, Brandon and Evan Harris, Bryson and Tessa Costich; Tucker and Jackson Colonna; her sisters, Rita Barry of Medina and Lucille Hotchkiss of Henrietta; many nieces and nephews; and several cherished grand-dogs.
    No prior visitation. A graveside committal service will be held for her and her husband, Harold on Saturday, Aug. 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Medina. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to PAWS Animal Shelter, 3371 Gaines Basin Rd., Albion, NY 14411 or the Lee-Whedon Memorial Library, 620 West Ave., Medina, NY 14103. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.

    Church Street, died suddenly
    Friday afternoon at Medina
    Memorial Hospital. Prayers
    were said at 8:30 this morning
    at Houseman Funeral Home,
    228 Park Ave., followed by a
    mass of Christian burial at St.
    Mary's Church at 9 a.m.
    The Rev. George B. Yiengst
    officiated and burial was in St.
    Mary's Cemetery.
    Born in Catfield, England, on
    April 29, 1894, he came to
    Orleans County as a youth and
    had spent the last 70 years in
    Medina. He was self-employed
    in the used car and car parts
    business until his retirement in
    1958.
    Mr. Bensley was a member
    of St. Mary's Church and was a
    member of the Lincoln Post No.
    1483 V.F.W. of Medina, having
    served in the U.S. 'Army
    Engineers during World War I
    in France.
    Surviving are his wife, the
    former Johanna Redmond; five
    sons, Walter of Middleport,
    Gerald R., Raymond W.,
    Robert and Donald E., all of
    Medina; four daughters, Mrs.
    Phyllis Thompson of West
    Seneca, Mrs. Roger (Rita)
    Barry, Mrs. Harold (Mary)
    Whiting, Mrs. George (Lucille)
    Hotchkiss, all of Medina; 27
    grandchildren and 35 greatgrandchildren.

    member of St. Mary's Roman

    Mrs. Ida Mae Bunn of
    Albion, Mrs. Lauretta Bennett
    of Middleport, and several
    nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call tonight (7-
    9) and Friday (2-4, 7-9) at the
    Bates-Cleary Funeral Home,

    232 Park Ave. Funeral services
    will be held Saturday, 10:30
    a.m. in St Mary's Church
    where a mass of Christian
    burial will be celebrated by the
    Rev. George Yisngst
    Burial will be in St Mary's
    Cemetery.

    Bridgett Redmond, 77, died last
    night at the home of her daughter,
    Mrs. Gerald Bensley of Mapleridge
    road, Medina, following an extended
    illness. Born in Canada, she
    came to the United States, 35 years
    ago. Her husband William Redmond
    died five years ago. Surviving
    are three daughters, besides
    Mrs. Bensley, and a son. They are
    Mrs. Margaret Snow, of Albion;

    Mrs. David Bunn, Rochester, Mrs.
    Spencer Bennett, Middleport, and
    William J. of Lockport.
    Services will be held Thursday
    at 8:30 at Thibault Funeral home,
    Lockport.
