    Richard W. Catlin, age 79, of Brownsburg, Indiana, formerly of Tonawanda, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016. He had been an educator in the City of Tonawanda School System since the early 1960's, retiring as the Junior High School principal, and then was elected to the Tonawanda School Board. While working in Tonawanda, Mr. Catlin served on the Starpoint Central School Board for many years and also served as Board President for the Starpoint Schools.
    Mr. Catlin received many awards during his 43 years as an educator, including the Tonawanda Education Association Distinguished Service Award, John F. Kopczynski Award. In its 16th year, the "NY Power Authority Arts/Science/Technology Fair" was renamed the "Richard W. Catlin AST Fair" in honor of its founder.
    Richard was an active member of the St. Bartholomew Anglican Church in Tonawanda and sang in the choir until he moved to Indiana 5 years ago. While in Indiana, he attended Bartlett Chapel United Methodist Church of Avon.
    He was the husband of the late Susan (nee Kriedemann) Catlin, who died September 14, 2003; and son of the late Robert and Gertrude (nee Brown) Catlin of Waverly, New York. A loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, educator, and friend to all, he is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (David) Dressler and Sarah (Peter) Bowman; grandchildren, Caitlin Dressler, Corinne Dressler and Michael Bowman; brother, Raymond (Vivienne) Catlin of Longmeadow, Massachusetts; sister, Dorothy (late Richard) Stapley of Geneseo, New York; and dearest lifelong friends, Rev. Richard and Barbara Molison. Richard is also survived by his niece, Kristin (Chris) Laure, and nephews, Keith (Judy) Stapley, Brian (Amber) Stapley and Alex (Nicole) Catlin.
    The family will hold services on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in Browsburg, Indiana. They will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Friday, January 6, at the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 7, at St. Bartholomew Anglican Church, 2368 Eggert Road, Tonawanda, where visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 AM. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. If desired, memorials to the the St. Bartholomew Anglican Church Choir Program, 2368 Eggert Road, Tonawanda, NY 14150, are preferred by the family.

    Nash Rd. Man Killed In Auto Crash Sunday
    Fractured Skull Fatal to Gustav Kriedemann, Mason Contractor – Accident Occurred in Buffalo – Drivers Lay Charges
    Gustav Kriedemann, 52, of 837 Nash road, well known mason contractor here, was almost instantly killed yesterday when an auto, driven by his son Edwin, 24, and a car, driven by Dr. George R. Turk of 595 Lafayette avenue, collided at the intersection of Parker avenue and Amherst street, Buffalo.
    Mr. Kriedemann suffered a fractured skull.
    As a result of the accident which also caused painful but not serious injuries to Mrs. Marie Kriedemann, a passenger in her son’s car and Mrs. Mary L. Turk, 66 years old, wife of the doctor, both drivers were booked at the Central Park station with one complaint against the other.
    On complaint of Dr. Turk, Edwin Kriedemann was charged with reckless driving, and on complaint of Kriedemann, Dr. Turk was charged with passing a boulevard stop sign. Neither driver was injured.
    Kriedemann was driving north in Parker avenue and Dr. Turk west in Amherst street. The cars came together at the intersection and the impact tipped over the Kriedemann machine. The elder Kriedemann was thrown out landing on the pavement on his head. He died within a few minutes.
    Mrs. Kriedemann suffered cuts and bruises. She insisted on being taken home for treatment. Mrs. Turk, who suffered cuts and also a possible rib fracture also was taken home.
    Accidental Death
    Despite the fact that each driver laid a charge against the other Medical Examiner Francis M. Kujawa announced a certificate of accidental death would be issued.
    Besides his wife and son, Edwin, Mr. Kriedemann is survived by two sons William and Walter; one daughter, Alice; one granddaughter, Janis Kriedemann all of North Tonawanda; two brothers, John Wendt of North Tonawanda and Martin Wendt of Rochester, and one sister, Mrs. Fred Proefrock of Alexander, N.Y.
    Mr. Kriedemann was a member of St. Peter’s church, Thompson street; the Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterer’s Union of the Tonawandas and the Eldredge Bicycle club.
    Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon from the late home. Rev. Ernst Schneppe of St. Peter’s church will officiate and burial will be in White Chapel Memorial park

    KRIEDEMANN Marie Kriedemann, 80, of 87 Minerva St., Tonawanda, died Friday evening (Feb. 24, 1967) in Genesee Hospital, Rochester, N. Y., following a short illness.
    Wife of the late Gustave Kriedemann, she is survived by three sons, Walter and William of North Tonawanda, and Dr. Edwin Kriedemann of Pittsford, N. Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Alice) Meyers of Tonawanda; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two brothers, William Poerschke of North Tonawanda and Rudolph Poerschke of Indian Falls, N. Y.
    Mrs. Kriedemann was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
    Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hilliard Funeral Home Inc., 147 Delaware St., Tonawanda, where services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30. The Rev. Luther Lautenschlager will officiate. Interment in White Chapel Cemetery.

    Former Policeman Was Serving on Jury at Time of Sudden Death.
    NORTH TONAWANDA - Charles J. Fischer, 59 years old, 185 Miller street, a former North Tonawanda policeman, dropped dead shortly after 8 o'clock this morning In the former Lockport trolley station in Payne avenue. Mr. Fischer was on his way to
    board a bus for Lockport, where he had been serving on a jury. The jury on which Mr Fischer was serving was trying a negligence action in supreme court and when news of his death was received, it was stipulated that the case be continued with the balance of the jury. He was born in North Tonawanda and spent his entire life here he was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church. Surviving are his wife, Ida; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Kriedemann, and three sons. Carl J., Benjamin E. and Orland E. Fischer, all of North Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. from the family residence with interment in White Chapel Memorial park.

She was a life-long resident of this city and a member of St. Peter's American Lutheran Church. Her husband, Charles J. Fischer, died in 1941. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Walter Ruth Kriedenann, this city; two sons, Benjamin E. Fischer, Cleveland, and Orlando E. Fischer, this city; a brother, Charles Schulmeister, and a sister, Mrs. Elma Sattelberg, both of this city; and three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Wattengel Funeral Home by Rev. Daniel Olson. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park
