Obituary of Mary Lavender
Mary June Lavender, age 85 formerly of Swann Rd. in Model City, died Saturday August 18, 2018 at Elderwood of Lockport.
Mary was born June 10, 1933 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur W. and Sarah Anna (Ehrhart) Luskin and was a lifelong resident of Model City. In 1954 she received a registered nurse degree from Deaconess Hospital in Buffalo. She was employed by Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston as the Employee Health Nurse, retiring in 1992 after 25 years of service. On July 3, 1955 she married Albert H. Lavender, Sr. Together they were members of the FMCA Motor Coach Association and the Fingerlakers, PEN-NY Mixer Chapters. Mary enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quiltmaking, and embroidery. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, many summers on Lake Chautauqua, and traveling by motor coach for the winter months.
Her beloved Albert predeceased her on April 4, 2017. She is survived by her children, Leslie A. (Matthew) Buczkowski of Newfane, Yvette (late Grant) Marin of Bowling Green, KY, and Albert H. (Michele) Lavender, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY; her grandchildren, Tina Andrews, Julie Llewellyn, Amy and Tiffany Marin, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Kathleen Specyal, Ashton and Albert H. Lavender, Jr.; her great grandchildren, Dale III, Owen, Matthew, Jacob, Natalie, and Nathan. She was predeceased by a daughter, Vanda L. (late Charles) Specyal and three brothers, Robert W., Richard E., Arthur G. Luskin.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, at 10:00 am in HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville with the Rev. Charles Popovitch officiating. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O.
