James W. Ward, husband of Linda I. Ward (Hughes) entered into rest on September 7, 2017 with his wife by his side. He was born February 21, 1950 in Lockport, New York. He was the son of Wallace T. Ward and May E. Ward (Williams). Jim graduated from Lockport High School in 1968 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Relations from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Jim served over 22 years for the New York State Senate and was an elected Niagara County Legislator for 8 years. He was appointed by New York State Governor George Pataki to the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission for 4 years and also held the position of Town Justice for the town of Newfane. Additionally he founded his own packaging design business.

Ward played an active role in the community serving as the director on a number of non-profit boards including: Eastern Niagara Hospitals, the Health Association of Niagara County, the Niagara County Community Action Program, the Niagara County Historical Society, the Town of Newfane Tourism Board, the Newfane Lions Club, the Krull-Olcott Development Committee, the Olcott Beach Community Association and the Olcott Beach Carousel Association. Jim was
presently serving on the NCCC Board of Directors and was a past President. He also enjoyed being a member of the Tuscarora Club of Lockport.

Jim was enthusiastic about coaching soccer, baseball, basketball and announcing at little league football games when his children were younger.

Husband of Linda J. Ward (Hughes) and father of James William Thomas Ward, Tracey Ann Rebecca Ward (Baron) and Sean Robert Ward. Grandfather to Sean Michael Ward, Skylar James Ward, Steven Wallace Ward, Lydia Jean Baron, Alba May Baron, and Claire Avery Baron. He was also Uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Monday, September 11, 2017 from 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 10 AM. Williams. 72, second vice president
of the Williams Brothers company
department store. died yesterday at
his home. 32 Maple street, after a
long illness.
A native of Bergholtz. Mr. Williams
had been a member of the
Williams Brothers firm for 50
years. Before his health failed
about two years ago, he was president.
He was a member of St.
Andrews' Lutheran church and the
Klwanis club.
Surviving are his wife. Mrs
Caroline McNeil Williams; a son,
Herbert B Williams of Niagara
Falls, a daughter. Mrs, Wallace T.
Ward of Lockport; two brothers.

BERGHOLTZ, March 7 - Ferdinand August Williams, 86 years old a resident of the Town of Wheatfield for the past 81 years, died vesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter. Mrs. John Proefrock. 9 Fremont street, North Tonawanda where he had been making his home for the past few months. Born in Bergholtz, Germany Mr. Williams came to this country when five years old with his parents. Since then he had made his home in Bergholtz and vicinity operating an extensive farm. He is survived by three sons. John and Ferdinand, of Lockport, and Philip A., of Niagara Falls, three daughters, Mrs. Proefrock, of North Tonawanda, Mrs. Fred W. Lindke. of Medina, and Mrs. Rudolph Mlllevllle, of Niagara Falls; 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a brother, Gustav Williams, of Sanborn. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Proefroc.k home and at 2:30 at St. James' church in this village, The Rev. Otto Bruss will officiate and interment will be in St. James' cemetery, Bergholtz.

Eldice (daughter of WALK, Christoph Friedrich and WENDT, Frederike Wilhelmine) was born on 2 Feb 1850 in Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY; died on 22 Oct 1923 in Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY. WILLIAMS-Lydia, aged 73 years, wife of Ferdinand A. Williams, departed this life at noon Oct. 22nd. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband, three sons and four daughters, John F. and Ferdinand B. of Lockport and Philip A. of this city, Mrs. Albert De Vantier of St. Johnsburg, Mrs. John Proefrock of Tonawanda. Mrs. Rudolph Melville (sic) of La Salle. Miss Helena Williams of Lockport, one sister and four brothers and 19 grandchildren survive her. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 25th at 2 :00 o'clock from her late residence and 2 :30 from St. Jacobi church at Bergholz. Rev. O. Bruss officiating.
