    Dora M. Johnston, age 88 of Ransomville, died Wednesday December 6, 2017 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston after a brief illness.
    Dora was born, June 16, 1929 in Sanborn, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Marie (Benthin) Schuler. On January 25, 1956 she married John R. Johnston and they lived in Youngstown for many years. Dora worked as a chambermaid at the Portage House Motel in Lewiston for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown. Dora was an avid bowler and was involved with all her children's and grandchildren's activities.
    Her husband, John, predeceased her in 1987. She is survived by her children, Debbie (Wayne) Pollow of Ransomville, Duffy (Tammy) Johnston of Youngstown, and Cindy (Dieter) Zahn of North Tonawanda; her grandchildren, Courtney (Albert) Zimmerman, Brittany (Shaun) Kiely, Nicole and Matthew Zahn, and Riley Johnston; her great grandchildren, Harper and Hunter Zimmerman, and Olivia Kiely; a brother, Robert (late Dolores) Schuler of Sanborn, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Harold, and Arthur Schuler.
    A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 21, at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church St., Youngstown, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Stewart officiating. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ransomville Vol. Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, PO Box 239, Ransomville, NY 14131 or to the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church St., Youngstown, NY 14174. Arrangements have been entrusted to the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville.

    ago today, Feb. 14, 1918, (St.
    Valentine's Day) that Mary
    Elizabeth Benthin and Arthur
    F. Schuler exchanged wedding
    vows in the Town of Cambria.
    Today they are observing
    their golden anniversary at
    their home, 4933 Shawnee
    Road. Mr. Schuler is a retired
    fruit farmer.
    Sunday, Mr. and Mrs.
    Schuler. were guests of honor
    at a, family party marking
    their anniversary. The event
    was held at the home of one
    of their sons, John Schuler,
    and his wife, 4942 Shawnee
    Road.
    Mr. and Mrs. Schuler have
    five children, Harold Schuler,
    Niagara Falls; "Robert and

    Hubner Benthin, died Sunday,
    March 9. He is survived by
    six daughters, Mrs. Benjamin
    Werth, Mrs. Jacob Bechtel, Mrs.
    Arthur Schuler, Sanborn; Mrs.
    Marvin Miller, Lockport; Mrs.
    William Mielke, Bergen, N. Y.
    and Miss Minnie Benthin at home;
    three sons, John and Frank Benthin
    of Sanborn, and Charles Benthin
    of Lockport; and thirteen
    grandchildren. Funeral services
    will be conducted from the late
    residence in Shawnee Wednesday
    at 3 p.m. and from St. Paul's
    Church, Shawnee at 3:30 pjn. The
    Rev. Theodore Mayer of North
    Tonawanda will officiate. Burial
    will be in Shawnee cemetery.

    SHAWNEE, June 17.-Mrs. Augusta
    Benthin, 73 years old, wife of Carl
    Benthin. retired farmer of the Shawnee
    road, died at the family home here
    yesterday. She had been in ill health
    for some time.
    Funeral services will be held from
    the home on Friday afternoon at 2
    o'clock, standard time, and at 2:30
    from 8t. Paul's Lutheran church here.
    Interment win be in Shawnee cemetery.
    Mrs. Benthin was born to Germany
    but had resided in this country for
    over 50 years. For 28 years they operated
    a fram on the Saunder's Settlement
    road before coming to Shawnee.
    In former years she was an active
    member of St. Paul's church.
    Besides her husband, Mrs. Benthin
    is survived by the following children:
    Mrs. Benjamin Werth, Mrs. Jacob
    Bechtel, Mrs. Arthur Schuler and
    Frank Benthin, all of Cambria,
    Charles and John, both of Shawnee,
    Mrs. William Mielke. of Bergen, N. Y,
    and Minnie and Molly Benthin, at
    home. Fifteen grandchildren also
    survive.
