    Notes:

    Roger D. Leaderstorf, age 83, of the City of Tonawanda, Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Hospice Buffalo in Cheektowaga. A native of Tonawanda, he was a graduate of Tonawanda High School and served in the US Navy during World War II. He was the husband of 56 years of Ruth (nee Copeland) Leaderstorf, who died in 2003; son of the late Chester and Bessie Leaderstorf; and brother of the late Duane Leaderstorf.

    Roger had been employed by the City of Tonawanda Post Office for 38 years, serving as Postmaster from 1974 until his retirement in 1984. He was a 62 year member and Past President of the National Hose Co. #1, a social member of the Union Hook and Ladder Co. #1, former Treasurer of Tonawanda Firemen’s Benevolent Assn., member of Tonawanda Exempt Volunteer Firemen’s Assn., Kenmore United Church of Christ, Tonawandas' Post 264 American Legion, Ken Ton Masonic Lodge #186, Ismalia Shrine, and a past member of the Exchange Club of the Tonawandas.

    He is survived by two children, Jay Leaderstorf of Tonawanda and Susan Leaderstorf of North Tonawanda; two granddaughters, Kate Leaderstorf of Sunrise, FL and Jeni Leaderstorf of North Tonawanda; and a sister-in-law, Tinie (the late Duane) Leaderstorf; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM Friday by the Rev. Martin W. Hamann. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Buffalo, Inc., 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227

    A candlelight wedding service on Thanksgiving evening in St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church, united in marriage Miss Ruth Copeland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. F Copeland of 390 Niagara St., North Tonawanda and Roger Leaderstorf, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Leaderstorf of Hillcrest Rd., Tonawanda. The altar was banked with white gladioli,, white chrysanthemums, white pompons and ferns. Robert Jaenecke sang, "Today, C Lord, We At Thine Altar Stand" and "The Lords Prayer". Mrs. Glen Warblow, aunt of the groom, was the organist The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in white slipper satin, with a circular train. She carried a shower bouquet of white carnations, white pompons and "centered with orchids. Mrs. William Prescot,t matron of honor, wore an old rose sharkskin gown. She carried Johanni Hill roses an pompons. Miss Marjorie Allan and Miss Shirley Fehrman, bridesmaids, wore peacock blue dresses and carried pink Bountiful roses and pompons. Miss Judith Manth, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. She wore a gold sharkskin dress and carried a email colonial bouquet. Duane Leaderstorf was his brother's best man and William Kohler and Robert Schroeder were ushers. A reception was held at the Grctwick "Hose Company for 200 guests. Mrs. Copeland, mother of the bride, chose a black crepe dress with black accessories. Mrs. Leadstorf, mother of the groom, wore a b:own crepe dress with brown accessories. Both wore corsages" of Johanna Hill roses and carnations. Pre-nuptial showers were given by Mrs. G. H. Manth, Mrs. C. F. Braegas, Mrs. Carl Copeland, Mrs. E. W. Copeland, Mrs. B. W. Guilfoos, Mrs. L. J. Maerten, Mrs. Wm. Prescott, Miss Shirley Fehrman, Miss Marjorie Allan, Miss Patricia Primeau and Mrs. C. G. Leaderstorf. Mr. and Mrs. Leaderstorf are now at home at 39 Linwood Ave., Tonawanda.

    He was president of the Tonawanda Men's Democratic Club atthe time of his death, and past president of Tonawanda's Local Fireman’s Assn.760, National Assn. of Letter Carriers, the National Hose Co. of Tonawanda andthe Tonawanda Firemen's Assn.

    Mr. Leaderstorf was a member of the Board of St. Peter'sLutheran, North Tonawanda,  vicepresident of the Exchange the Tonawandas, and secretary-treasurer of the localJunior ?? of United American Mechanics.
    He also was a past vice president of the Eldredge BicycleClub Tonawanda, a charter member of the Gastown Sportsmen's Club of Tonawanda,and secretary of the Tonawanda Firemen's Benevolent Assn.

    William Leaderstorf, 78, former
    Tonawanda resident, died suddenly
    of a heart attack Sunday in
    his home in San Diego, Calif.
    Mr. Leaderstorf was a paperhanger
    and painting contractor
    here 16 years before he moved to
    California for his health. He last
    visited the Tonawandas and his
    many friends here in 1948 when
    he celebrated his 50th wedding
    anniversary.
    He was a charter member of the
    Junior Order of the United Ame
    r i c a n Mechanics, Tonawanda
    Council 117, and a member of the
    I. O. O. F.
    He is survived by his wife,
    Emma (nee Breunner), a sister
    Mrs. Louise Wiik of North Tonawanda;
    a daughter, Mrs. Cecelia
    Jeffery of San Diego; and two
    sons, Chester of Tonawanda and
    Herbert of North Tonawanda. Also
    surviving are five grandchildren:
    Roger, Duane, Donald, Robert and
    Harry Jeffery.
    Burial will be Tuesday afternoon.
    Services will be held in the
    Lewis Mortuary in San Diego.

    Mrs Emma (Brunner) Lead erstorf, 90, wife of the late William Leaderstorf of Tonawanda, died yesterday in San Diego, Calif.
    A resident of Tonawanda for 35 years, she had resided in California for the past 15 years A member of the Daughters of America, she is survived by a son, Herbert Leadersdorf of North Tonawanda, and a daughter, Mrs. John Osborn of San Diego, five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was the former Emma Brunner.
    Services will be conducted Wednesday in San Diego.

    Christian Luedersdorf, 79 years old,
    a well known resident of North Ton-
    awanda, died suddenly at the home of
    his daughter, Mrs. George Cramer, at
    Martinsville yesterday afternoon. Mr
    Luedersdorf was born in Germany. He
    located in Buffalo when 14 years of
    age. Two years ago he moved to Mar-
    tinsville. One son, William Lueders-
    dorf of Tonawanda, and five daugh-
    ters, Mrs. Gustave Lueders, Mrs. Au-
    August Rogalsky. Mrs. John Wiegand,
    Mrs. Charles Wilke and Mrs. George
    Cramer, all of North Tonawanda, survive.
    The funeral will be held from the
    late home Sunday afternon at 2
    o'clock and a half hour later from the
    St. Paul Lutheran Church on William
    street. The Rev. Mr. Schmidt will officiate.
    Burial will be in the St. Paul
    cemetery at Martinsville.

    George Brunner, 81 years old,
    one of the few veterans of the
    Civil War residing in the Tona-
    wandas died yesterday afternoon
    at the home of his daughter,, Mrs.
    William C.. Leadersdorf, 372
    Broad street. Born in Germany,
    Mr. Brunner came to America at
    the age of nine. At the age of
    15 he enlisted in Company I,
    Second N.Y. Inft. He enlisted on
    January 28, 1862,, at Niagara
    Falls

    He was wounded and captured
    in action on May 3, 1862. He was
    paroled and transferred to Com-
    pany I, 102nd N.Y. Inft. in 1864
    and continue in the service of
    the North until the end of the
    war. Among the mot important
    engagement of the Civil War in
    which he engaged were the Sec-
    ond Btle of Bull Run and the
    Battle of Little Round Top. He
    wa with General Grant during
    his march from Atlanta to the
    sea. During that march the
    troops went without food for 72
    hours.
    Mr. Brunner was a resident of
    Tonawanda for the past 48 years.
    He wa a member of W. B
    Scott Post,, G. A. R., until the or-
    ganization was disbanded a num-
    ber of years ago
    Surviving are a wife, Josephine
    five sons, Andrew of Lorain, O.,
    George, Jr., of Rochester and
    Charles, William and Frank of
    Tonawanda; three daughters,,
    Mrs. Rose Lacey of Sunnyside
    Wash., Mrs. Leadersdorf and Mrs..
    H.. A. Baldwin of Canandaigua,
    24 grandchildren and 12 great
    grandchildren.
    The funeral will be held Sun-
    day afternoon at 2 o'clock at the
    Leadersdorf residence and half
    an hour later at the Salem
    church. Rev. Amdrew Hills wil

    the City cemetery.

    Mr. and Mrs. George Brunner of
    Tonawanda celebrated the golden an
    adversary of their wedding yesterday
    at the home of their daughter. Mrs
    William Leaderstorf of No. 364 Main
    street. Mr. and Mrs. Brunner have
    been residents of the city for 40 years
    Rev. Andrew Hils renewed the mar
    riage ceremony and an appropriate
    address was given by Rev. C. W. Jarv
    is.
    There were 8o present at the anniv
    ersary ceremony. including eight chil-
    dren. and five grandchildren, besides
    other relatives and friends of the fam
    ly. representing the Tonawandas
    Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Rochester, and
    Loraln. O. Many gold pieces were presented
    to Mr and Mrs Brunner as
    tokens of esteem. The house was decorated
    with cut flowers, gold trim-
    mings and the American colors. A wed
    ding supper was served at six o'clock
    and the evening was spent in dancing
    and singing.
