TONAWANDA — Thomas Alexander Szabad, age 52, of Tonawanda, entered into rest on February 8, 2011. Born in North Tonawanda, NY, on April 12, 1958 to Mike and Paula (Ford) Szabad.

He was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast. His 1979 custom Super Glide, painted by the late Tommy Warning, was his pride and joy. Thomas was employed at Pepsi Niagara and was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, in Bergholz.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Bonnie (Buchholz) Szabad; he will be forever missed by his daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Woods-Heim; three grandchildren, Savannah, Lucas and Ellie; his mother, Paula Szabad; brother, Jim (Sheryl) Szabad; sister, Sandra (Tom) Drummer and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father.

Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Sunday from 2-6 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Philip N. Sallach, on Monday at 10:30 AM in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Road and Luther Street in Bergholz. He will be taken to rest at Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.

Mike Szabad, of North Tonawanda, entered into eternal rest, Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at the age of 85, while under the care of Niagara Hospice, surrounded by his family. Born in Romania, Mr. Szabad resided in North Tonawanda for the past fifty-seven years and was a retired employee of National Grinding Wheel and a former employee of Tonawanda Iron Works. He was a member of the North Tonawanda Seniors (Goundry St.). Mike and his wife, Paula, celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary on November 29, 2009. Beloved husband of Paula M. (nee Ford) Szabad; dearest father of James (Cheryl) Szabad of North Tonawanda, Thomas (Bonnie) Szabad of Tonawanda and Sandra (Thomas) Drummer of Sanborn; proud and loving grandfather of Jason Szabad, Kyle Drummer and Joshua Drummer and great- grandchildren, Jemini, Axavier and Ariana; dear brother of Ann Tamas of Montreal, Canada and Alexander (Sylvia) Szabad of Grand Island; also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will be present to greet relatives and friends on SATURDAY, January 16th from 12 Noon to 4:00 PM at the SABER FUNERAL HOME, 549 Oliver St., North Tonawanda (692-0271), where funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM immediately following visitation with Rev. John Tipton officiating. Flowers graciously declined.
