Mrs. Rose Hannel Died Early Today
Funeral of Beloved Pioneer Resident Will Be Held Friday
Mrs. Rose Hannel, one of the pioneer residents of the north end of the city, passed away this morning. She was born, March 11, 1852, at Rodelstadt, Germany, and attained the age of 71 years. Coming to Niagara Falls at an early age, she was married to Alexander J. Hannel of Alsace Lorraine, France, who died early in life, at the age of 40 in the year 1856. There were nine children, seven of whom are at present residents of Niagara Falls: Mrs. Jacob Kelberer, Mrs. Chester Collard, Mrs.. David Leighton, George Hannel, Charles Hannel, Mrs. Albert Slack. Mrs. Robert Golinski. Miss Emma Hannel is the wife of the Rev. Dr. John O. Sparmon, pastor of the first M. E. church, Arlington, N. J., who will participate In the funeral services. Albert Hannel lives at Melbourne, Florida. Besides 17 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. J. Seller and Mrs. D. Lippert survive her. Always warm hearted, generous, cordial and friendly, Mrs. Hannel had, a host of friends. With a character above reproach she graced the community. She had all the qualities which dignify and endear motherhood and thus she established a home which exemplified the highest ideals. She was a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her religious devotion was characterized by that sincerity which everyone respects and her religious life was a continual inspiration; Blessed with large gifts of the heart in particular, she became a blessing. The funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. from the residence of Charles Hannel, 370 Spruce avenue.
