    SANBORN, June 25-The marriage
    of Miss Beatrice M. Le Van,
    daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Royal T.
    Le Van of Buffalo avenue, to James
    P. Winkley, son of Mr. and Mrs. B.
    J. Winkley of Newfane, was solemnized
    on Saturday, June 22, at 4:30
    p, m. at the home of the bride's
    parents. The Rev. Harold E Kenrick,
    pastor of Sanborn Methodist
    Episcopal church, performed the ceremony
    in front of a beautiful white
    ribbon arch, centered with a bouquet
    of Talisman roses, banked by royal
    palms and pink roses.
    Preceding the ceremony Miss Eva

    M Balcom at the piano played, "O
    Promise Me" and "Bridal Song" from
    Lohengrin.
    The bride, who was given in marriage
    by her father, was attired in
    a lovely gown of mousseline de sole,
    made with tight fitting jacket and
    tiers of flounces at the bottom of
    the skirt. She wore white accessories
    and carried a bouquet of white
    roses, sweet peas and gypsophila. The
    maid of honor, Miss Evelyn Schoelles,
    of Sanborn, was bridesmaid and was
    gowned in yellow mousseline de sole
    and carried Talisman roses.. William
    Stevens of Niagara Falls, acted as
    best man.
    Following the ceremony, a reception
    for 24 guests was held at Wendt's
    tea room on the Mountain road. The
    bridal party rode in a coach over 100
    years old which was decorated in pink
    and white and drawn by a mule
    with William Peart, Jr., in full regalia,
    as coach man, and T. H. Dean,
    as footman. The bride's table was
    laid with covers for ten, centered with
    a three tiered wedding cake with
    two tall white tapers on either side
    and white roses as favors.
    Mr. and Mrs. Winkley left on a
    trip through the New England states.
    The bride wore a white garbadlne
    auit with violet hat and matching
    accessories. They will be at home In
    Sanborn after July 1.
    Pre-nupttal affairs included: A
    variety shower at the home of Miss
    Evelyn Schoelles; a linen shower at
    the home of Miss Evelyn Gillingham;
    a pyrex shower at the home of Miss
    Esther Casselman.

    NIAGARA FALLS - Muriel Sparling, 89, of Niagara Falls, died Thursday (Jan. 3, 2002) in Niagara Geriatrics Center after a lengthy illness.

    Born Muriel Scholefield in Niagara Falls, she graduated from Niagara Falls High School.

    Mrs. Sparling was a homemaker and also held various accounting positions. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church; Chapter 355, Order of the Eastern Star; and the YWCA.

    Her husband, Raymond E., died in 1996.

    Survivors include a daughter, Gail S. Winkley of Brookfield, Conn.; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

    Services will be private. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston.

    A quiet but pretty wedding was
    solemnized at the Epiphany, church,
    Lockport and Main streets, at 4
    o'clock Saturday afternoon, when
    Miss Muriel L Scholefield, only daughter
    of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick
    Scholefield, of Willow avenue, became
    the bride of Raymond Sparling,
    son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas,
    Sparling, of Cleveland avenue.
    The bride wasr attired in a becoming
    brown crepe dress, with hat, slippers
    and hose to match. She wore a
    corsage of pink tea roses. The bride's
    only attendant, Miss Elizabeth Sparling,
    sister of the groom, wore a
    black and white crepe dress with
    accessories to match. The groom
    was attended by Fred Scholefield,
    brother of the bride.
    A-reception was held at the home
    of the bride's parents following the
    ceremony, about 35. guests being present.
    Twelve guests were seated at
    t>he bride's table, decorations being in
    green and white, and centered with
    a beautiful wedding cake, which was
    a gift from Mrs. Edward Bond.
    Pre-nuptial affairs were a variety
    shower given by Mrs. Thomas Sparling,
    of this city; a green and cream
    kitchen shower by Miss Esther Sievert,
    of Ransomville, arid a shower by
    Mrs. David Taylor, of this city, where
    the guests presented her with an orchid
    boudoir chair.
    Mr. and Mrs, Sparling left for a
    motor trip to Philadelphia, Pa., and
    other points enroute, and upon their
    return will make their home in this
    city.

    Hold Last Rites for Royal LeVan
    Prominent Sanborn Resident Laid to Final Rest. 
    SANBORN, Aug. 2 – The funeral of Royal T. LeVan, 58, who died on Friday at a Rochester hospital, was held at the family home in Buffalo avenue on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and was one of the largest ever held in this section. A profusion of beautiful floral offerings expressed the high esteem of a wide circle of friends and relatives. Members of Sanborn Fire company, Forest Lodge, No. 202 ,I.O.O.F., and Sanborn Rebekah Lodge, No. 668, of which organizations Mr. LeVan was a member, attended in a body and the two latter had part in the service at the cemetery. The bearers included B. L. Hudson, Ray Kline, Ross N. Hudson, Willard C. Dale, A. T. Tompkins and N. C. Martin. The Rev. Frank N. Taft was the officiating clergyman. Interment was in Shawnee cemetery.

    trade, he had worked in local construction
    until he retired two years

    A native of London. Eng., Mr.
    Scholefield had resided here for
    46 years. Before retirement he was
    a kiln fireman at the Carborundum
    Co., of which he was a member
    of the 25 year Club.
    He was a member of Epiphany

    Belleview Lodge No. 316. IOOF.
    Niagara Lodge No, 81, with which
    it merged, will hold a memorial
    service at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at
