James Andrews, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late James G. and Evelyn (O’Neil) Andrews. James graduated from the former LaSalle High School and attended Niagara County Community College. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Buffalo State College and earned his Master’s Degree from Niagara University.  On December 3, 1966, he married his beloved wife, Gloria (Visentine) Andrews at Mt. Carmel Church. Mr. Andrews began his teaching career at the former Madonna High School in 1968 and also taught at Niagara Catholic and Niagara Falls High School. He retired from LaSalle High School in 2000 after 32 years of dedication to the community. James was a longtime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a past officer of the Century Club. He was also a devout Catholic and member of St. John de LaSalle Church. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and traveling with his wife each year to Florida, as well as Ireland and Italy. James was an avid sports fan and enjoyed getting together with family and friends to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers games. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his ten cherished grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Mr. Andrews is survived by children, Eileen (David) Crumb, Lisa (Thomas) Trapasso, James (Deena) Andrews and John (Shannon) Andrews; ten grandchildren, Caroline, Jack, Tyler, Nick, Michael, Christopher, Avery, Dylan, Mia and Jake; one brother Gerald (late Connie) Andrews, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. James was predeceased by three siblings, Shirley Makuson, Sally (Stanley “Bob”) Kasprzak and Carlton (Leigh) Andrews. Visitation will be on Monday, April 30th from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 8:45 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. at St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.
