    Notes:

    Edward Arthur Sherwood, age 81, of Hermitage, TN, died April 18, 2018. Mr. Sherwood was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Upon entering the military, he studied Russian in Monterey, CA, and served in the Army Security Agency for six years. He was a retired architect with Gould Turner Group, and after retirement he worked at the Hermitage Walmart as a greeter. Mr. Sherwood enjoyed fishing, gardening and loved baseball, especially the NY Yankees. He loved his family and was so proud of his grandkids and great-grandkids. He shared stories about them with his many Walmart customers! He will be missed greatly by his special four-legged friend, Sadie.
    Mr. Sherwood was the son of the late, Clarence and Alfretta Sherwood. He was also preceded in death by one brother; and three sisters. He is survived by wife of 57 years, Belva Sherwood; children, Michael (Laurie) Sherwood, Pam (Patrick) Bruce and James Sherwood; grandchildren, Eric (Rachel) Sherwood, Ashley (Jon) Spear, Andrea (Shelton) Robinson, Jonathan Bruce and Paige Bruce; great-grandchildren, Jordan Robinson, Cora Sherwood, Mila Robinson and Oliver Sherwood; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Sunday at Bond Memorial Chapel, N. Mt. Juliet Road and Weston Drive, Mt. Juliet, TN. (615)773-2663. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Bond Memorial Chapel with M. Eric Sherwood officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Donelson Christian Academy Baseball Program, 300 Danyacrest Drive, Nashville, TN 37214

    Farmer sold fruit at City Market
    SANBORN - A former farmer who sold produce at the Niagara Falls City Market for more than 40 years, Alferetta Sherwood, 89, formerly of Sanborn, died Saturday (Jan. 19, 1985) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital. She lived at Fairchild Nursing Home, Lewiston, for the last five years. A native of Lockport, she sold apples at the City Market that were grown on the fruit and dairy farm she and her husband, Clarence E. Sherwood, operated, retiring 10 years ago. "People still ask for my mother at the market," said her daughter, Mrs. Lee (Norma) Kier of Sanborn. "It was like her social life. She had many friends there. "Her philosophy was to sell good stuff; she never tried to put anything over on anyone. My parents were true farmers at heart, who care what they sell to the public and take pride in their produce," she said. Before Mrs. Sherwood married more than 60 years ago, she had worked in Lockport as a weaver, operating eight looms at once in her prime, Mrs. Kier said. Besides her husband and daughter, she is survived by two sons, William E. Sherwood of Sanborn and Edward A. Sherwood of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; another , daughter, Mrs. Earl (Helen) Rusk, of Nevada; 13 grandchildren and 11 great.grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert D. Oyer officiating. Burial will be in Wheatfield Cemetery, the Town of Wheatfield.
