    JOAN F. OAKEY, age 82 of Brookdale Niagara, Wheatfield, NY, entered into rest on March 8, 2019 at the facility. Formerly a resident of Naples, FL. Born December 4, 1936 in Niagara Falls, NY; daughter of the late Harry and Leona (Voelker) Pollard. Joan attended Niagara Falls High School, was employed as a payroll clerk for the Niagara Wheatfield School District until her retirement, a long time member of Marco Lutheran Church, Marco Island, FL, where she was a choir member, and the Red Hat Ladies at Marco Island. Joan enjoyed reading, needlepoint, cooking, gardening, quilting, playing cards and bingo, traveling, and her family. 
    Survivors include four children, Kim Stein of Grand Island, NY, Mark (Laura) Oakey of Wheatfield, NY, Dawn Gartman of Morrisville, NC, and Teri (Bob) Martell of Wayland, NY; two sisters, Patricia Perkins of Kingwood, TX, and Judy (Roger) Siegmann of Sanborn, NY; grandchildren, Joshua (Danielle) Oakey, Erin (Matt) Higgins, Marissa Oakey, Kari (Henry) Belding, Brandy Gartman, Meggie Gartman, Ben Gartman, Eric (Charity) Martell, and Don Martell; great-grandchildren, Eliana, Tanner and Marlowe Higgins, Gilbert Belding, and Reid Oakey.
    She was predeceased by her husband, Donald R. Oakey on July 5, 2009. 
    A memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Kevin Koenig, at Marco Lutheran Church, Marco Island, FL. Interment will be in the memorial garden at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marco Lutheran Church Foundation, or Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO. Arrangements were with the DuBois Funeral Home, Wheatfield, NY

    Harry Pollard Dies in Bergholtz
    BERGHOLTZ - Harry Pollard, 48, of Washington St.. a former president of Arntz Motor Co., North Tonawanda, died Wednesday (June 6, 1956) at bis home after a long illness. Born in Sarnia, Ont., Mr. Pollard resided in Bergholtz for the last 20 years. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and of the Brotherhood of the church. He retired from business five years ago. Surviving are is wife, Leona Voelker Pollard; three daughters, Mrs. Richard DePasqualc, Niagara Falls. Mrs. Donald Oakey and Miss Judith Pollard, Bergholtz; his mother. Mrs. Etta Pollard, Bergholtz; and a sister. Mrs. Fred Hartman. Niagara Falls. Friends may call until noon Saturday at the Hamp Funeral Home, North Tonawanda. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. at St. James Church here by the Rev. Otto Bruss. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery. The family said memorial tributes will be accepted for St. James Church Memorial Fund.

    Services for Leona H. Pollard, a charter member of the Historical Society of North German Settlements in Western New York, will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday in St. James Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Rohr Street. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.
    The former Leona Voelker, 84, of Niagara Road, died Monday (Oct. 2, 1995) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
    She was a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield and longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church.
    Mrs. Pollard was a member of the Wheatfield Senior Citizens and enjoyed quilting and needlework.
    She was the widow of Harry Pollard, who died in 1956.
    Survivors include three daughters, Patricia DePasquale of Toledo, OH, Jean Oakey of Conesus Lake and Judith Siegmann of Sanborn; two brothers, Kenneth Voelker of Niagara Falls and Gordon Voelker of Martinsburg, W. Va.; two sisters, Hazel Wiegand of Wheatfield and Audrey Haseley of Calabash, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild

    SCHULTZ – Elsie Voelker Schultz, 65, Thursday (July 7, 1955) in the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Aolph Wiegand of Niagara R., Bergholtz, N. Y. with whom she resided. Born in North Ridge, N. Y. Mrs. Schultz had resided in Bergholtz for the past 43 years and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Ladies Ai Society of the Church. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Weigand, Mrs. Harry Pollard of Bergholtz, Mrs. Ernest Andrees and Mrs. Norman Andrees of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Herbert Haseley of Medina; three sons, Melvin and Gordon Voelker of Bergholtz and Kenneth Voelker of Niagara Falls; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; six sisters, Mrs. George Nassoiy, Mrs. Chester Voelker, Mrs. Elmina Krauser, Mrs. Harold Livingston of Niagara Falls, Mrs. David Seymour of Buffalo and Mrs. Theodore Hickox of New Kensington, Pa.; three brothers, Reinhardt and Solomon Frye of Niagara Falls, an Herman Frye of Pontiac, Mich. Friends may call until noon Sunday at the Hamp Funeral Home, 37 Adam St., Tonawanda, N. Y. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in St. James Church, Bergholtz, the Rev. Otto Bruss officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.

    BERGHOLTZ, Nov. 18- The mar-
    riage of Miss Elfrieda Voelker, of
    Niagara and Hunts streets, to Nor-
    man Andrees, of the Nash road and
    Niagara Falls boule
    vard, was one of

    the prettiest weddings held here this
    season. Miss Voelker is the daughter
    of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Voelker
    and Mr. Andrees is a son of Mrs. E.
    Andrees. The ceremony took place
    last Saturday at St. James Evangelical
    Lutheran church, the Rev. Otto
    Bruss officiating.
    To the strains of Lohengrin's wed-
    ding march, played by Theodore Gra-
    bau, organist, the bridal party enter-
    ed the church. Miss Voelker was love-
    ly in her bridal attire of a white
    moire gown, which was floor length
    and had a long train, a long tulle
    veil and an old fashioned bouquet of
    white roses, and white Pom Poms and
    smilax tied with satin streamers. She
    wore white hose and shoes to match.
    Miss Audrey Voelker, sister of the
    bride, was maid of honor and wore a
    becoming gown of tea rose moire
    floor length, similar to that of the
    bride. The bride's maids were Miss
    Emma Andrees, sister of the groom,
    and Miss Gladys Mellenthine, an in-
    timate friend of the bride.
    The little four-year-old flower girl,
    Jacquelyn Andrees, niece of the bride
    and groom, looked dainty in a peach
    color silk crepe dress..
    The best man was Wallace Mar-
    tin. Melvin Voelker, brother of the
    bride, and Phillip Moll were ushers.
    Before the ceremony the Misses Ger-
    trude and Lydia Schultz of Niagara
    Falls, sand "I Love You Truly," and
    after the ceremony "What a Friend
    we Have in Jesus," with Mr. Grabau
    accompanying. The single ring cere-
    mony was used. Mrs. Voelker, mo-
    ther of the bride, wore a becoming
    dress of green silk crepe, and Mrs.
    Andrees, mother of the groom, wore
    a stunning gown of wine crepe.
    After the ceremony a reception was
    held in the hall on Niagara road for
    about 60 guests. Out-of-town guests
    were from Nashville, Tonawanda and
    Niagara Falls.
    Pre-nuptial affairs were showers
    given by Mrs. Hazel Weigant, the
    Misses Audrey Voelker and Lydia
    Schultz; Mrs. E. Andrees, Mrs. Mil-
    dred Andrees and Miss Emma An-
    drees; Miss Loretta Froehling, Mrs.
    Edward Heshke and Mrs. William
    Andrees. The bride and groom will
    reside on the corner of Nash road and Ni-
    agara Falls boulevard.
