    Obituary of Catherine Hammond

    Nellie Catherine LaMountain Hammond died peacefully  on July 11th, 2019  in Meriden, Ct.  Catherine was born in Proctor, Vt. in 1918. She was the daughter of the late George and Lillian (Geno) LaMountain. She resided in the Gasport and Lockport area for over 80 years before moving to Meriden, Ct in 2009. She was predeceased by her husband (Kenneth) of 54 years whom she married February 18th,1939, an infant daughter (Theresa) in 1954, and her two brothers George LaMountain (Phoenix, Az.) and Howard LaMountain  (Dallas, Texas).
    Catherine is a 1936 graduate of Lockport Senior High School.  She was a school crossing guard, and managed the cafeteria at Charles Upson School from 1961 to 1977.  She was an active member of her community and cherished her time with family and friends. She loved helping people and was always available to work on a committee. She was a parishioner and Eucharist Minister of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and served in various PTO positions while her daughters attended St. Mary’s School. Later she served as an officer in the Altar and Rosary Society and the Ladies of Charity. She was an active participant of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, the Gasport Senior Citizens and the Dale Association.
    Catherine was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her daughters Joanne Kay Hammond (Roger Gilder) of Rochester N.Y. and Patricia (Bruce) Bathrick of Cheshire, Ct, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Oratory at 11am on Thursday, July 18th. Family members will be available at 10:00 am if you wish to pay your respects before the service.  Burial will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.  On line condolences at www.pruddenandkandt.com

    LOCKPORT - George LaMountain,
    8r, 54, died last evening at his
    home, Ridge road, town of Hartland,
    after an illness of three years.
    He was a native of Vermont, but
    came to this county 11 years ago.
    residing In this city two years before
    removing to Hartland.
    Surviving are his wife. Mrs. Lillian
    LaMountain: a daughter, Mrs.
    Kenneth Hammond, of Hartland;
    two sons. George LaMountain. Jr.,
    of Hartland. and Private First Class
    Howard LaMountain, of the U. S.
    Marines.
    Services will be held Monday at
    8:15 am.from the home and at 9
    o'clock at St. Patrick's church at
    Barker, N.Y.

    Mr. and Mrs. William Cob of
    Moll Street, announce the marriage
    of their daughter, Linda Lee
    Warblow, to Pvt. George Marvin
    LaMountain, son of Mr. and Mrs.
    George LaMountain Sr. of Wheeler
    Road, Lockport.
    The wedding took place in St.
    Joseph's Church, North Tonawanda,
    at 10 a.m., Oct. 7. The Rev.
    Charles Schoy officiated.
    The bride wore a white chiffon
    ballerina length dress. The bodice
    was enhanced with white satin
    bows. Her veil was caught to a
    crown of rhinestones and she carried
    a bridal bouquet of white
    chrysanthemums and lilies of the
    valley.
    Miss Kathy LaMountain, maid
    of honor, wore a pale green chiffon
    dress and carried a bouquet
    of pink roses.
    Grant Collata of North Tonawanda
    was the best man.
    A reception was given in the
    bride's home for the immediate
    families.
    After traveling to Canada, Mr.
    and Mrs. LaMountain are living
    in Waynesville, Mo., where Pvt.
    LaMountain attends a s e r v i ce
    training school.
