    John Joseph Paul, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2022 after a long and fulfilled life of 89 years.  He was born in Niagara Falls on November 22, 1932, the son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Dravetsky) Paul.  He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 8, 1953 and was stationed in Maine and Germany during his tenure, serving his country proudly until his honorable discharge on December 4, 1956.  He transferred to the Air Force Reserves serving until December 31, 1960. 
    After his discharge from active duty he worked at Kimberly Clark and then began his career in 1957 with the Niagara Falls Fire Department where he served his community for nearly 36 years.
    John, lovingly known as Poppy, centered his life around family and friends and opened his heart and home to all who crossed his path.  His greatest joy was time spent with his family.  He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Sandra C. (Mack) Paul and four children: Donna (James) Dunham, Irene (Gary) Grabiec, John (Christine Cook) Paul and James (Marchette Stevens) Paul.  He is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Tiffany (Jason) Foster, Kenneth Hodge, Ryan, James, David and Sarah Grabiec, Rebecca and Joshua Ammerman, Sarah and Christina Paul, Thalon and Rain Paul, Willow Saxton and Brook (Sean) Dunbar.  Along with 8 great-grandchildren and many extended family members.  Poppy was predeceased by his daughter Michele (Glenn) Ammerman, his grandson Michael Paul, his granddaughter Angela Scibilia and his 6 siblings.
    Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 1 to 7 P.M.  A Mass of Christian Burial followed by Military Honors will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2499 Independence Avenue in Niagara Falls, NY.  Entombment will be private.

    Sandra C. Paul, 83, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls on April 9, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Harvey R. and Anne L. (Schwinkbeck) Mack.


    She is survived by her children, Donna (James) Dunham, Irene (Gary) Grabiec, son-in-law Glenn Ammerman, John (Christine Cook) Paul, and James (Marchette Stevens) Paul; 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.


    Besides her parents, Sandy was predeceased by her husband, John J. Paul, daughter, Michele Ammerman, siblings, Harvey Mack Jr., George Mack, Shirley Pope, and grandchildren Michael Paul & Angela Scibilia.


    A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 27 from 2-5PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 24th Street, cor. of Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

    Mrs. Elizabeth Mack; a son, Harvey.

    Blttle, Vancouver, B.C.;, two sisters
    in Germany and four grandchildren.

    After the divorce of this couple, the children went to live with William Schwenkbeck and Mollie. After Mollie died in 1926, the children were old enough to be on their own, but the children of William and Mollie were placed in an orphanage. All this according to Karlheinz Schoenfeld in 11/97.

    John was baptized Johannes Jacob. He was a stationary engineer for the Niagara Falls Board of Education. This according to Juanita Halliday Josey's FTM data.
