    Vicki Davis, 64, of West End, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019, at FirstHealth Hospice House after a short battle with cancer.
    Vicki was born Aug. 18, 1955, in North Tonawanda, N.Y. She was predeceased by her mother, Margaret Maerten, and her father, Burdette “Bud” Maerten.
    She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gerard “Jerry” Davis, of West End; daughter, Janel Anderson and her husband, Jeffrey Anderson, of Winston-Salem; son, Matthew Davis and his wife, Ashley Davis, of West End; sister, Sandra “Sandy” Tortorete and her husband, Charles “Chuck” Tortorete, of Lady Lakes, Fla.; and three beautiful grandchildren.
    A private service will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m. in West End.

    TONAWANDA - Louis E. Maerten, 78, of 646 Emerson Dr., Eggersville, a former resident of this city, died Thursday (Oct. 9, 1969) at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Buffalo, after a long illness. Mr. Maerten, a lifelong resident of this area, was formerly employed as a piano tuner. He was a veteran of World War I in France with the U.S. Army. He is survived by his widow, the former Lelia Sherwood; three daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Nulls. and Mrs. Henry Rule,both of the Tonawandas, and Mrs. Clayton Gorn, of Eggertsville; a son, Burdette Maerten, of this city; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Baer of Sanborn, and Mrs. Jennie Miller of Hialeah, Fla. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hamp Funeral Home by the Rev. Carl F. Fiscus. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home today.

    TONAWANDA. May 11-Stricken
    with a heart attack while working
    as a fireman aboard the tug Georgia
    in Buffalo this morning. Charles
    Welch. 58. of 392 Fletcher street,
    died later despite the efforts of
    coast guardsmen to revive him.
    Mr. Welch was a lifelong resident
    of this city and a member of the
    Union Hook and Ladder company
    and the Tugmen's. Firemen's and
    Linemen's Protective association,
    He had been employed by the Hand
    and Johnson Tug Lines in Buffalo
    the last four years as a tug fireman.
    Prior to that he worked on the
    steamer Niagara owned and operated
    by the Gravels Products company,
    of this city. Before that he
    was employed as an engineer by
    the International Paper company.
    He is survived by his wife. Mrs.
    Welch, at homeF(sic)
    Lona Welch: two sons. Frank: L.
    Welch, with the U. S. Navy in England,
    and Patrick Welch, U.S.S.
    Missouri, and two daughters. Mrs.
    Florence Kopcho, and Margaret
    Welch, at home. The funeral plans
    have not been completed.
