    Notes:

    Robert C. Arnold, a longtime resident of the Town of Wheatfield, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 in Buffalo General Hospital.  He was 93.  He was born in Niagara Falls on September 22, 1926, the son of Edward and Gertrude Angevine (Mason) Arnold.  Robert served his beloved country with great pride during WW II in the United States Army.  He was very proud of his duties done for all of us.  He was honored to have witnessed the Peace Treaty.
    Following his honorable discharge, he briefly worked for Bell Aerospace and later went to work for Frontier Foundries until his retirement.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He loved baseball, and was a proud cheerleader for all his grandchildren’s games.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marion (Phillips) Arnold; five children, Robert Charles (Marsha) Arnold of Baltimore; Cherille Panza of Lewiston; John E. (Donna M.) Arnold of the Town of Boston; Thomas (Cynthia) Arnold of Niagara Falls and Barbara (Blake Kobee) Basden of Tonawanda; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by siblings, Gemeta Shields, Marian Clifton and Edward Arnold.
    The family will be present Tuesday from 4-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where Funeral services with Military Honors will be held following the visitation at 8 PM.  The interment will be private in Bath National Cemetery,

    Marion H. (Phillips) Arnold, 95, of Wheatfield, NY, passed from this life on February 7, 2020.  Born on April 17, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Lydia (Strasburg) Phillips.  

    Marion was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle High School.  On December 15, 1951, she married Robert C. Arnold.  He predeceased her on January 11, 2020.  Marion was baptized and raised in Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee with her sisters as well as bingo.  Above all, Marion loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    Marion is survived by 5 children, Robert (Marsha) Arnold, Cherille Panza, John (Donna) Arnold, Thomas (Cynthia) Arnold and Barbara (Blake Kobee) Basden; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Betty (late James) Robbins and several nieces and nephews who knew her as Aunt Mooney.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by 8 siblings.

    Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where Marion’s funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10th at 10:00 a.m. Prayers of committal and interment will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery.  Family and friends invited.  To share condolences and view her tribute video visit, GOODLANDERCARES.com

    Mrs. Lydia A. Phillips, 69, of 5628 Stephenson Ave., died today (Jan. 25, 1960) at her home after a long illness. Born in North Tonawanda, she had lived in the Niagara Falls area for the last 65 years in the LaSalle section and the former Village of LaSalle. She is survived by her husband, Franklin W. Phillips; seven daughters, Mrs. Charles Krell, Mrs. Paul McAlee, Mrs. Timothy Moriarty, Mrs. James Robins, Mrs. Grace Sabin and Mrs. Robert Arnold, this city, and Mrs. Ernest Krutinger, Kenmore; three sons, David W. Phillips, Ransomville, Edgar H. and Franklin W. Phillips, this city; one sister, Mrs. Edward Gath, North Tonawanda, and five brothers, Albert, Walter; Harold, George and Benjamin Strassburg, all of this city.     Mrs. Lydla Augusta Strasburg, 77
    years old, wife of Henry E, Strasburg
    and a lifelong resident of this city,
    died at her home, 1119 Eighty-ninth
    street, last night, after an illness of
    six months. Funeral services will be
    held from the family residence at 2
    p. m. Wednesday and from the Zlon
    Lutheran church, Cayuga drive, at
    2:30 p. m., with the Rev. George
    Hoyer oflfclating. Interment will be
    In St. Matthew's cemetery in Martinsville,
    N. Y,
    Surviving her. besides her husband,
    are six sons and three daughters. Edward

    Mr. and Mrs. Henry Strassburg celebrated their golden wedding at the
    parish house of the Zlon Lutheran church. La Salle. About 100 persons, members
    of the congregation and friends, of the couple-partook of a dinner which
    was the feature of the celebration. The interior of the parish house was attractively
    decorated in white and gold and yellow roses were on the tables.
    Mr. and Mrs. Strassburg were married on January 22, 1880, in Bergholtz. by
    the Rev. Mr. Welnbach, and resided for a short time on the Niagara Falls
    boulevard. For the last 35 years they have lived in the La Salle section. Their
    descendants number six sons, three daughters, 27 grandchildren and one great
    grandchild.
    At the dinner guests were present from this city, Lcckport, the Tonawandas,
    Town Line and Buffalo. The Rev. Mr. Hoyer briefly addressed, the assemblage
    after which a hymn was sung. A large bouquet of daffodils was presented to Mr.
    and Mrs. Strassburg by the Ladles Aid society of the church.
