    Notes:

    Bruce Burns, age 79, of Grand Island, NY, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Lewiston.  Born on October 7, 1940 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Frank and Ruth (Scotland) Burns. 
    Bruce attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School.  In 1963 he married the former Maria Perno in St. Joseph Church, Niagara Falls. Bruce was the son-in-law of Frank, Edith and Betty Perno.  He proudly served for the United States Army until his Honorable discharge in 1964.   Bruce began work as a Chemical Operator for Hooker Chemical and then the Local #129 Plumbers and Steamfitters.  In 1986 he went to the New York State Power Authority and worked as a mechanic until his retirement in 2006. 
    Bruce was very athletic during High School, playing various sports. Following school, he enjoyed playing competitive fastpitch for several teams and won the New York State Fast Pitch Championship with the Stadium Grill team. Bruce was also an avid golfer and had a love for the game and played in several local competitive leagues. In 2002 he was proud of being inducted to the Niagara Falls Old Timers Hall of Fame for his years of playing various sports in the area. He also enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees.   Above all, his love was spending time with family and friends.
    Bruce is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria Burns; his loving son, Bruce M. (Jacqueline) Burns; step grandson, John Conti; sister, Sharon (David) Costanzo; sister-in-law, Linda (James) Isenhart; brother-in-law, Frank (Colleen) Perno and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents, Bruce was predeceased by 2 brothers, Douglas and Thomas Burns.
    Visitation will begin on Sunday, March 1st from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Bruce’s Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at St. Leo’s Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Everyone please assemble at church.   Entombment in St. Stephens Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family.  Flowers are gratefully declined, if desired, memorials can be made to the American Lung Association or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.  Please visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
