John F. Ruffolo, 72, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on December 17, 2023 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Anthony and Natalie ‘Nellie’ (Sgro) Ruffolo.
John was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School.  He graduated from Buffalo State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Minor in Science Education. He went on to earn his Master’s Degree from Niagara University in Education.
John was employed as the Director of Purchasing at OLV Hospital in Lackawanna, NY.  He then resumed his teaching career, where he worked as a Mathematics Teacher in the Niagara Falls City School District for over 10 years.
John was the President of LaSalle Little League where he coached both of his sons and volunteered for over 15 years, leading their teams to multiple City Championships.   He was an avid fan of the Oakland A’s.  John enjoyed walking the Outlet Mall daily and having coffee in the food court with his regular crew of friends.  More than anything, John lived for his family.  He was a mainstay at all of his grandchildren’s’ baseball, softball and swimming events, and always kept impeccable statistics on spreadsheets to record their batting averages and times.
The family would like to acknowledge Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for the care and support shown to John and his family.
John is survived by his loving companion of 25 years, Alice Violanti; his sons, John A. (Sarah) Ruffolo and Anthony A. (Christine) Ruffolo; his grandchildren, Marissa, Jacob, Trenton and Chad Ruffolo; his siblings, Marie (late Paul) Maynard and Joseph (Teresa) Ruffolo, as well as by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin on Friday at 9:15 AM followed by John’s Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Foundation, https://nfmmc.org/about-us/foundation/.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
