PEKIN. Aug. 5.-Mrs. Caroline
Broeker. of Buffalo and the Misses
Ada and Annlta Schulz entertained
Sunday at a variety shower at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schulz,
of this village, in honor of Miss Mar-
garet Reynolds, of Lockport, whose
marriage to Otto Schulz. son of Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Schulz. will take
place on August 13 There were 25
guests present. Out of town guests
were from Buffalo. Tonawanda and
lockport. The dining room was dec-
orated with summer flowers and yel-
low and white crepe paper. Lunch
was served after which the guest of
honor was presented with many beau-
tiful and useful gifts.

BUFFALO, July 17.-Funeral ser
vices for the Rev. Joseph Schulz,
pastor emeritus, were held Tuesday
at Emmanual Lutheran church, Buf-
falo, with the Rev. Mr. Mueller of-
fciating.
The Rev.. Mr. Schulz was born in
Bergholtz 75 years ago and was or -
dained in the ministry at Holy
Ghost Lutheran church in 1899. He
later served congregations in Mis-
souri and Nebraska. His retirement
in 1926, due to ill health, brought
him and his family back to Pekin,,
where they made their home until
1942. Since then he had lived in
Buffalo and Olean.
He became ill on May 24 and
died on July 10. Surviving are five
sons, five daughters, 12 grandchil-
dren, a sister and three brothers.
The Rev. Mr. Koenig conducted
the burial services at St. Andrew's
Lutheran cemetery at Pekin.

Wilhelm married GOERSS, Caroline in 1873 in New York. Caroline (daughter of GOERSS, Carl Friedrich and SY, Charlotte Wilhelmine) was born on 11 Feb 1846 in Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY; died on 29 Mar 1932 in North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

DIES AT AGE OF 86
Mrs. Schultz, Born in Bergholtz, In North Tonawanda 12 Years.
NORTH TONAWANDA, Mar. 30-Mrs. Caroline Schulz, 86 years old died yesterday at her home, 61 East Felton street, after a long illness. Born in Bergholz, she had lived in North Tonawanda during the past 12 years. Two daughters, Mrs. Adolph Schroeder and Mrs. Alexander Wendt, Pekin; four sons, Joseph and Amose (sic), Pekin; Benjamin, North Tonawanda, and William, Lockport; 22 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. William Ferchen, Bergholtz, and a brother, William Goerss, North Tonawanda, survive.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the home and half an hour later at St. Mark's church on Washington street. The Rev. Paul Fretthold will conduct the services and burial will be in the St. Andrew's cemetery in Pekin.
