    KARL R. BLAIR, age 79 of the Town of Niagara, NY, entered into rest on July 13, 2020 at his residence, while under the care of his loving wife, Elizabeth M. (Dier) Blair and Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on February 8, 1941; son of the late Ralph and Caroline (Roll) Blair. Karl served in the United States Navy from 1960-1962, and the Navy reserve until 1965. During his service, he received awards for Bay of Pigs Invasion - U.S.S. Gauelston. Karl was employed as a chemical engineer at Olin Chemical, and later at Honeywell of Buffalo, where he retired. His interests included NASCAR sports, and the quality time spent with his grandchildren. He and his wife were united in marriage on September 14, 1963. They were blessed with two daughters, Karolyn Blair of Niagara Falls, NY and Kristine (Michael) Gedeon of Cambria, NY; three grandchildren, Kristopher Gedeon, McKenzie Gedeon and Aiden Erwin. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Paul Blair of Texas, Thomas Blair of New Mexico, Margaret Cirillo of Florida, Beverly Luffman of Lockport, NY, Robert and Christine Dier of Town of Niagara, NY and Marilyn Szpara of Grand Island, NY; also nieces and nephews.
    A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were with the DuBois Funeral Home, Wheatfield, NY.

    The bride was given in

    bridesmaid, Miss Marilyn,

    They wore peacock blue
    starched chiffon over yellow
    taffeta. They carried
    white daisies and pompons.
    The bride's niece, Janet
    Thomson, wore a short
    w h i t e organdy-dress and
    carried a basket of pink
    flowers. Ringbearer John
    Thomson nephew of the
    bride carried a heart-shaped
    pillow.
    DAVID DIEM was best
    man. Paul Blair and Thomas
    Blair, brothers of the bridegroom,
    and Robert Dier,
    the bride's brother, were
    ushers.
    The bride's mother wore
    A blue print sheath dress,
    and the m o t h e r of the
    bridegroom was dressed in
    a turquoise nylon sheath.
    Their corsages were white
    pompons.

    Elizabeth (nee Thomson) Dier McKenzie, 92, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at her residence, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born on November 4, 1922 in Stevenston, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late William and May (Cook) Thomson. On December 25, 1941, she married Clarence A. Dier. He predeceased her on April 5, 1972.

    Betty, as she was known to family and friends, came to Niagara Falls at the age of five. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. For thirty-five years, Betty was employed as a Nurses Aide for Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church on Ward Road in North Tonawanda as well as Order of the Eastern Star. Betty had also served as President and Vice President of the McKenzie Club. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and knitting.

    Betty is survived by five children, Elizabeth (Karl) Blair, Marge Cirillo, Beverly Luffman, Robert (Chris) Dier and Marilyn (late Ted) Szpara; six grandchildren, Ken Holt, Ann Cirillo, Kris Gedeon, John Luffman, Shannon Bland and Karolyn Blair; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a very special cousin, Darlene Hathaway, who was Betty's constant companion in her last days and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by one granddaughter, Jennifer Luffman and two brothers.

    Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007) where a funeral service will be held on Monday, May 18th at 10:00 a.m. Prayers of committal and interment will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
