  1. 2.  SEAGER, Samuel Maurice was born on 17 Aug 1890 in Swain, Allegany County, NY (son of SEAGER, Henry and KILDAY, Katharine Moneca); died on 11 Dec 1942 in Tonawanda, Erie County, NY.

    Notes:

    Son of Henry A. Seager (1854-1929) and Katharine Moneca Kilday (1859-1897). (His sister, Mary, is the third name on the gravestone.)
    In his early years he went by "Sam Seager" but later went by "Maurice Seager"

    He moved to Buffalo at the age of 13 along with his older sister Matie. He worked at the Pullman factory as an upholsterer then at the Erie Railroad as a carpenter on the bridges.

    He enlisted in the Army in World War I, was inducted at Belmont on 27 September 1917, promoted to Private First Class on 11 January 1918, promoted to Corporal on 9 July 1918. He served overseas from 27 May 1918 to 14 May 1919 in Battery B, 307th Field Artillery Regiment, 78th (Lightning) Division, 3rd Army Corps, participating in the St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne operations. He was wounded on 28 September 1918 at the Battle of St. Mihiel. He was honorably discharged 22 May 1919.

    After the war he returned to Buffalo and worked from 1923-1928 as a chiropractor.

    Mrs. S. M. Seager, Former Teacher, Dies
    A teacher at School 9 for ten years, Mrs. Ruth C. Vogelmann Seager, 43, of 33 Commonwealth ave., Kenmore, died Wednesday after a long illness three weeks after the death of her husband, S. Maurice Seager.
    Surviving is a son, Kenneth; two brothers, the Rev. Carl G. Vogelmann, pastor of Christ Evangelical & Reformed Church in Buffalo, and the Rev. Walter W. Vogelmann, pastor of Emanuel Evangelical Reformed Church, Shaker Heights, O., and a sister, Mrs. Oswald Ringle of Buffalo.
    Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 from Loomis, Offers & Loomis Funeral Home, 1820 Seneca St., with the Rev. Harold J. Snitker, pastor of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthews' Cemetery.

    Grocer Dies Suddenly
    Stricken by a heart attack yesterday while delivering groceries to the cafeteria in School 9, Bailey avenue and Doat street, Gottlieb D. Vogelmann, proprietor of a grocery at 2028 Bailey avenue, died despite efforts of an inhaiator crew of Fire Emergency Squad 2, High street, to save him.He is survived by his wife, a daughter. Ruth, and a son, the Rev. Carl Vogelman
