HARLEY A. DEMERY ARKPORT—Harley A. Demery of Oak Hill Street. Arkport, died yesterday (May 27, 1961)at the Veterans Administration Center in Bath where he had been for two and one-half weeks.
He was 71 years old. Born in the Town of Fremont, he spent most of his life in the Hornell area.
He was a veteran of World War I and a charter member of Niagara Falls Post 54, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two sons, Harvey and Leonard Demery; a niece and a nephew.
The body will be at the Robertson Funeral Home in Hornell tomorrow afternoon. Funeral and committal services will be held there at 3:30 p.m. Monday with Rev. Earl Sims officiating. Burial will be in Stevens Mills Cemetery.

MRS. DEMERY DIES
Resident of Falls for 18 Years Passes After Lingering Illness
Mrs. Florence Demery, 51 years old,wife of Harley Demery. died at her home, 634 Third Street, at 3:05 p.m. yesterday after an illness of two years. Mrs. Demery, who was born in Wilson, had lived in this city for 18 years.
Funeral services will he held from the family home at 2:30 p.m. Wesnesday with burial in North Ridge cemetery, North Ridge.
Surviving her besides her husband, are three sons, Willard and Leonard Parks and Lee Demery, of this city; her mother, Mrs. Mary F. Schurr, this city' three brothers, Frank Schurr, this city; Fred Schurr, Wilson and Willis Schurr, of Buffalo, and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Haner and Mrs. Anna Shermer, both of Wilson.

One of the oldest residents of Niagara Falls died last night in the person of Mrs. Mary Frances Schurr,87 years old, whose death occurred at the home of her son, Frank Schurr, 2906 Pine avenue. She was the widow of Christian Schurr, a veteran of the Civil War and former member of the Wilson post of the Grand Army of the Reublic.
Mrs. Schurr was born in Newfane in 1849. She came to Niagara Falls in 1918 and resided at 640 Thirtieth street until a year ago. Surviving her are three sons, Fred Schurr of Wilson, Frank Schurr of this city, and Willis Schurr of Gowanda; two daughters ,Mrs. Bird Sherman and Frank Frank Haner of Wilson and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Brandt of Newfane and Mrs. Jennie Richle of Detroit. Fourteen grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at her son's home at 3 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Dr. Sylvanus S. Davies, pastor of St. Paul's M.E.church, officiating. Burial will be in North Ridge cemetery.
