    William A. “ Bill ” Kilmer 72 of Lewiston, husband of Linda “Lyn” Kilmer entered into rest at home on November 11, 2020 under the care of his loving family and Niagara Hospice. Bill was born on June 11, 1948 in Niagara Falls to his late parents Robert and Ruth McMillen Kilmer. He graduated from Lew-Port class of 1967.Bill served in the United State Army from 1969-1972 as a dog handler in the K-9 unit in Tan Sanut, Vietnam. He also was stationed in Camranh Bay from 1970-1971 in which he was responsible for securing ammo dumps and heli pads at the hospital. Bill returned to General Motors where he was previously employed before deployment and remained there for the next 38 years. He was active with the Lewiston # 1 Fire Department, for 25 years, during his course of duty he served as Chief for 3 years and President for 7. Bill served as a police officer with the Lewiston Police force between 1973 and 1979, Bill was a pillar to his community, always giving back.After retirement from General Motors in 2007 he took on employment with the Lew-Port School District where he drove school bus for the next 12 years. Bill was an active member of the Lower Niagara Moose Lodge 584 where he was an administrator and took on the duties as Treasure for NYS District 7 Moose Association. Bill was also a member of the Wheatfield Legion Riders with the Wheatfield POST 1451 as well as a member of the Patriot Guard Riders up until his illness.Bill is survived by his wife Lyn; father of Mandie Skellen and Sabrina (John) Blando and late Jason Kilmer; Stepfather to Michael, Kristie, Arron and late Daniel Berhow; loving Papa to Taylor, Kaitlyn, A.J, Giovanni, Cassady, Jillian, Kiera, Kodie, Keanu, Alayna, Marley,Orion, Ashwin, Arun; great grandfather to Jase; brother of the late Milton and Richard (Betsy) Kilmer. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and great nieces and npFamily and friends may call on SUNDAY from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC. Corner of N. Fourth and Ridge Streets. Lewiston, NY. Funeral Services will be held on MONDAY (Nov.16) at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Oakland Rural Cemetery with military honors.Flowers are gratefully declined.     YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown - "Bob" Kilmer, age 85, of Youngstown, was called home to be with his loving wife, Ruth (McMillen) Kilmer, on Monday, August 16, 2010 surrounded by his family while under the care of Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Robert was born August 5, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Milton J. and Georgia (LaBruin) Kilmer. He worked for Loblaw's Grocery Store as a manager for 15 years where he met and on August 15, 1944 married the love of his life, Ruth McMillen. In 1950 they moved to Youngstown where he went to work for his uncle at Read's Grocery Store, which he later owned. Robert also worked 23 years at the New York State Power Authority before retiring in 1991. His love of work led him to a part time job at the Youngstown Post Office. Robert loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed being outside, gardening, feeding the birds, and talking with his neighbors. Robert was an avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan. He was an active member of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Company for 23 years and an Exempt Fireman for 16 years. Robert was also a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Youngstown. He is survived by two sons, William (Lyn Seiler) Kilmer of Lewiston and Richard (Betsy) Kilmer of Ransomville. He was the proud ÒPaPaÓ to 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his cousin, whom he called "brother", Wilton "Pete" (Jean) Kilmer of Grand Island, NY; a brother-in-law, Robert (Margie) McMillen of Melbourne, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his wife Ruth York (McMillen) Kilmer on October 1, 2006; his son, Milton R. Kilmer in 1992; and a grandson, Jason Kilmer in 1977. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth and Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Wednesday from 7 - 9 PM and Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 20th at St. John's Episcopal Church, Main and Chestnut Sts., Youngstown, with the Rev. Ellen Brauza officiating.
