    JOHN "JACK"'S OBITUARY

    John (Jack) F. Pero, of Lewiston, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. He was born in Levittown, New York, on September 4, 1947, a son of the late John (Jack) F. and Ann (Pfriemer) Pero.
    Jack moved to Niagara Falls in 1965 when he was 18 years old upon graduating from St. Dominic’s High School in Oyster Bay, New York to attend Niagara University to major in Finance and Accounting. It was during his freshman year at Niagara that he would meet his future wife and love of his life, Judith G. Goss, whom he married on February 13, 1971, and predeceased him on December 24, 2020. On February 13, 2021, Jack and Judy would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary together, in addition to five years of dating.
     Jack graduated from Niagara University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting in 1970, beginning work with M & T Bank, and then as an accountant with National Fuel, where he retired in 2003. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time with his family, playing billiards, golfing, traveling to the Bahamas and Las Vegas (upon which he was affectionately known as “Clark Griswold” for his most excellent trip planning skills), watching westerns, old movies, the New York Mets and Buffalo Bills, and playing card games.
    Jack is survived by his children, John “Jack” Pero III, and Jaime (fiancé Peter Pietrangeli) Pero, as well as his brother in law Gary L. (Annette) Goss, all of Niagara Falls; and his beloved dogs, Herschel, Jojo, and Fritzie.
    Family present Monday, March 22, 2021 from 4-7 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls where services will be held following the visitation at 7 PM.  The interment will be private in Riverdale Cemetery. 
    If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital via their website https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html, or, to the Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue, located at 3652 Ewings Road, Lockport, New York 14094. Both organizations were near and dear to Jack’s heart.
    The family would like to thank Mr. Joseph Ruffolo and the staff of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and Schoelkopf Health Care Center for their loving care and steadfast treatment of their father.

    udith G. (Goss) Pero, of Lewiston, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020. She was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on May 25, 1947, a daughter of the late Guy and Frieda (Weld) Goss.
    She, with her family, moved to Niagara Falls when she was a child. She was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School, class of 1965. Judy continued her education at Niagara University, earning her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education. She was a cheerleader while attending Niagara University.
    Mrs. Pero was employed for many years with the Niagara Falls Board of Education. She taught eighth and ninth grade English for many years, retiring in 2002 from Niagara Falls High School. Judy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls. She enjoyed crafting and working with stained glass.
    She is survived by her husband, John F. Pero, married February 13, 1971; their children, John "Jack" Pero of Niagara Falls; Jaime (fiance Peter Pietrangeli) Pero of Niagara Falls; her brother, Gary L. (Annette) Goss of Niagara Falls; and her beloved dogs, Herschel, Jojo and Fritzie.
    Private funeral services were held Tuesday at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., Niagara Falls.
