    Notes:

    of the Town of Wheatfield, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, in Northgate Health Care Facility.    He was born at home in Wheatfield, on October 19, 1929, the son of the late Herbert E. and Margaret (Wagner) Koithan.
    Mr. Koithan graduated from North Tonawanda High School and was a lifelong dairy and fruit farmer.  He was also an exempt volunteer member of the Shawnee Fire Company and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years.   He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
     Mr. Koithan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn (Hoffmeister) Koithan and was the father of David Koithan, Robert (Krisann) Koithan, Brenda (Brooks) Rimes, Kevin Koithan (Eva Liao) and Timothy (Sherrill) Koithan, 18 grandchildren - Jennifer (Kevin) Josing, Amanda (David) Benavidez, Colleen (Chris) Brown, Sarah Koithan, Kim Koithan, Melissa Koithan, Kelly (Christian) Siezega,  Kaitlyn Koithan, Allison Koithan, Jason Rimes, Nathan (Kristin) Rimes, Brett (Jocelin) Rimes, Matthew Koithan, John Koithan, Lydia Liao, Nicholas Koithan, Bailey Koithan, Jacob Koithan and 13 great grandchildren – Payton Josing, Kyle Josing, Alex Josing, Violet Benavidez, Gina Brown, Gabriella Brown, Joseph Brown, Christian Brown, Daphne Rimes, Angel Rimes, Katie Rimes, Caleb Rimes and Naomi Rimes. 
     He is also survived by his twin brother Harold (late Gloria) Koithan, a sister Lois (William) Gosch and many nieces and nephews.
    Herbert was the brother of the late Ruth (late Glenn) Janowsky and Jane (late Donald) Broecker.
    Private Funeral Services were held at the wishes of his family.
    Interment in Wheatfield Cemetery.

    OBITUARY

    Marilyn L. Koithan, of the Town of Wheatfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, in Northgate Health Care Facility.  She was born in  Tonawanda, NY, on January 11, 1934,  the daughter of the late Edmund and Erma [Gentzke] Hoffmeister.
    Mrs. Koithan helped her husband on the family farm and ran the farm's fruit stand every fall. She was known as the "Apple Lady".   She also liked gardening, sewing, and crafts.  
    She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
    Mrs. Koithan was the wife of the late Herbert A. Koithan, who passed away in May of 2018.
    She is survived by  her children David Koithan, Robert (Krisann) Koithan, Brenda (Brooks) Rimes, Kevin Koithan (Eva Liao) and Timothy (Sherrill) Koithan, 18 grandchildren - Jennifer (Kevin) Josing, Amanda (David) Benavidez, Colleen (Chris) Brown, Sarah Koithan, Kim Koithan, Melissa Koithan, Kelly (Christian) Siezega,  Kaitlyn Koithan, Allison Koithan, Jason Rimes, Nathan (Kristin) Rimes, Brett (Jocelin) Rimes, Matthew Koithan, John Koithan, Lydia Liao, Nicholas Koithan, Bailey Koithan, Jacob Koithan and 14 great grandchildren – Payton Josing, Kyle Josing, Alex Josing, Violet  and Jacob Benavidez, Gina Brown, Gabriella Brown, Joseph Brown, Christian Brown, Daphne Rimes, Angel Rimes, Katie Rimes, Caleb Rimes and Naomi Rimes, two brothers Gerald (Ingrid) Hoffmeister and Edmund (Pam) Hoffmeister, Jr., also many nieces and nephews.  
    Private Funeral Services were held at the wishes of her family.

    Obituary of Richard A. Wood
    Richard A. Wood, 95, of Lewiston, NY, peacefully entered Jesus’ embrace on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at home, with his loving family. He was born in Jackson, MI, on June 19, 1925, the son of Henry Wayne and Revella (Barnes) Wood. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946 where he was awarded the EAME Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, Victory Medal WWII and Army of Occupation Medal (Germany). He attended Michigan State University before he wed Ann A. (Tompkins) Wood on November 15, 1947 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Niagara Falls, NY. He completed his carpentry apprenticeship in 1951and was a member of the Carpenters Local #280 and #322. During his career, he helped to build many iconic sites in Niagara County, including the Power Vista, the Lockport Bridge over the Canal, and St. Peter R.C. School, which his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren attended. He graduated with his B.S. in Vocational Teaching from Buffalo State in 1971 and served as an instructor for the Iroquois Job Corp and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters until he retired in 1987. He was an active member of the St. Peter's Church, serving as a lector and in the Holy Name Society, of which he is a past-president. Richard was well known for his wood carving, winning several local competitions. He was the best son, brother, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and great-great grandpa who enjoyed spending time with his family and researching family genealogy, which he traced over 1,000 years. Surviving are his children, Robert (Patti) Wood, Linda (late Robert and Dave) Heagerty Lambert, Patricia (Roger) Hutton, Krisann (Robert) Koithan, John (late Amy) Wood; grandchildren, David (Harmony) Wood, Renee (Wood) Diamond, Katie (Tim) Lashway, Meghan (Robert) Harmon, Robert Sean (Kristen) Heagerty, Kim Hutton, Briana (Jamus) Jegier, AJ Reiter, Colleen (Chris) Brown, Sarah, Kim, Melissa, Katie, and Allison Koithan, Kelly (Christian) Siezega, Jennifer (Al) Bax, Leah Ingraham, Stevie (Jimmy) Wright, and Melissa, Elizabeth, and Amanda Poole; 30 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; sister Marjorie (late Marvin, Joseph, and Joe) Bissell Hallenback Bast, sisters- and brothers-in-law Patricia (late Frank) Phillips; Sally Wood, Johnnie Wood, Kenneth (Charlotte) Tompkins, and Robert (Sharon) Tompkins. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Ann, his daughter Barbara Lynn, his grandson Bryan Richard Wood, his brothers Clifford, Keith and Charles (Dot and Barbara) Wood, sisters-and brothers-in-law Arlene (Anthony and Frank) Pullano Smiedala, Joan (John) Morgan, Karolyn Tompkins, Reva (James) Waddell, Melvin (Jeanette) Tompkins, Doris (Gerald) Berthot, and Grace (Fred) Thompson. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Gail, Rita, Evelyn, and Nichole for their loving care and support of Richard these past two years. A private burial will be held for the family at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Town of Lewiston, NY, and a celebration of life will follow in the summer of 2021.     HOFFMEISTER - Edmund B. Hoffmeister, 69, of North Tonawanda, suddenly Wednesday (July 24, 1974). Mr. Hoffmeister was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Laymen’s League and former superintendent of the Sunday School, a 25-year member of the Remington Rand Club. He was secretary and treasurer of the Gratwick Lumber Company and custodian of Ohio Street Elementary School.
    He is survived by his wife, Erma (nee Gentzke) Hoffmeister; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Marilyn) Koithan of the Town of Wheatfield; two sons, Gerald E. Hoffmeister of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Edmund B. Jr. of Libertyville, ILl.; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Benjamin Hoffmeister and Christian T. Hoffmeister, both of North Tonawanda, and was brother of the late John Hoffmeister and Lonia Duerr.
    The family will receive friends at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St., at Ward Road, North Tonawanda, from 7 to 9 this evening and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday. The body will lie in state in Redeemer Lutheran Church Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m., time of service. The Rev. Donald Krompart will officiate. Interment in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery. If so desired, memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
