DONALD Eckhardt PROEFROCK, age 79 of Wheatfield, NY, was called to his heavenly home on December 21, 2020 at the Niagara Hospice House, Lockport. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on September 12, 1941; son of the late Eckhardt and Edna (Beiswanger) Proefrock. A graduate of North Tonawanda High School, he was employed at National Fuel for forty years. Don served in the Army Reserve, was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wheatfield, where he served as an usher, and on the school board. Don was also an active member of the St. Johnsburg Fire Company for 59 years, holding various offices, and a member of the Wheatfield Planning & Zoning Board for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the quality time spent with his family, especially the grandchildren, and camping with family. Don loved his Friday night outings with close friends at the fire hall, for just "one beer". He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine C. (Hazelet) Proefrock in 1973, and second wife, Barbara (Kisiel) Proefrock in 2009.Survivors include three children, Kristen (Christopher) Banach of Ransomville, Pamela (John) Turton of Niagara Falls, and James (Melanie) Proefrock of Cambria; a brother, Gerald (Doris) Proefrock of NC, and sister, Jean (late Randy) Hein of FL; grandchildren, Greg Boudreau, Connor Proefrock, Griffin Proefrock, Tanner Proefrock, and MoMo Turton (grand-doggie); a close friend, Cathy Sonner; nieces, nephews and cousins.Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Sunday (December 27) from 1-6 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Michael Borgstede, on Monday (December 28) at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Falls Blvd. and Ward Road in Wheatfield. Interment will follow in Acacia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice, St. John Lutheran Church, or St. Johnsburg Fire Company.

Barbara J. (nee Kisiel) Proefrock, of Town of Wheatfield, entered into eternal rest, Thursday, August 20, 2009 in her 69th year, at DeGraff Memorial Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Barbara was employed with the Niagara-Wheatfield School District for over twenty years. She was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan. Beloved wife of 33 years of Donald E. Proefrock; dearest mother of Kristen (Christopher) Banach of Ransomville, Pamela (Rene') Boudreau of Niagara Falls, NY and James (Melanie) Proefrock of Tonawanda; proud and loving grandmother of Gregory Boudreau and Connor Proefrock; dear sister of Michael Kisiel, Patricia Watson, both of North Tonawanda and the late Virginia Pundt; also survived by her mother-in-law, Edna Proefrock of North Tonawanda; nieces, nephews and cousins.The family will be present to greet relatives and friends on SATURDAY, August 22nd from 6-9 PM and SUNDAY, August 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the SABER FUNERAL HOME, 549 Oliver St., North Tonawanda, (692-0271). Proefrock, Eckhardt W. Proefrock, age 80, of the Town of Wheatfield, Wednesday (January 23, 1991) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a length illness. Mr. Proefrock was an employee of the Carborundum Co. for thirty-five years, member of St. John's Fire Co., the Wheatfield Senior Citizens and St. John Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Proefrock; two sons, Donald (Barbara) Proefrock, both of Wheatfield and a daughter, Mrs. Randall (Jean) Hein of Menomonie, WI; several grandchildren; a brother, Howard (Florence) Proefrock and a sister, Mrs. Harold (Doris) Sitzmann, both of CA; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda, Thursday 7-9 pm and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from St. John Lutheran Church; he the Rev. Ronald D. Oravec officiating. Interment in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. If so desired, memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church Debt Fund.

Edna L. Proefrock, age 95, of Wheatfield, NY, was called to her heavenly home on April 10, 2013 while at the Northgate Health Care Facility. Born in Buffalo, NY on January 25, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Murphy) Beiswanger. Edna was the wife of the late Eckhardt Proefrock, who was called home in 1991.
She was devoted to her family and friends and was always there for anyone in need. Edna had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. She retired from the Niagara Wheatfield School District, after driving a school bus for over 21 years, and organizing school bus routes. Edna was a faithful member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Wheatfield, where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the St. Johnsburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and loved playing cards and games with her friends, especially her new friends at the Woodland Senior Apartments.
Survivors include three children, Donald Proefrock of Wheatfield, Gerald (Doris) Proefrock of Sherrills Ford, NC and Jean (Randall) Hein of Lakeland, FL; a sister, Mary Slater; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Edna was also predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Edward, Robert, William and Hazel.
Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Services will be conducted on Monday, April 15th at 11:00 AM in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, corner of Niagara Falls Blvd. and Ward Road. Interment will follow in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
