    SWANSON, Ruth L. Ruth L. Swanson entered Life Eternal on January 29, 2020 at the age of 88. Ruth was born in N. Tonawanda, NY on July 2, 1931. She attended St. Mark's Lutheran School in N. Tonawanda for eight years. She often referred to those years as the Foundation of her Christian walk with God. After graduating from N. Tonawanda High School, she attended Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio with honors and obtained her R.N. degree. A few years later she graduated from Pacific Christian College in Fullerton, California with her B.S. degree. Ruth met Donald Swanson (February 9, 1935 - August 28, 2018) who was attending Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, MO. They were married on August 17, 1958. She had been planning to be a missionary nurse in New Guinea but she often said, "God had a different mission field for me." She and Don were blessed with three beautiful children: son Jonathan, daughter Mary and son David. The family was active together in full time ministry in many parts of the USA and Hawaii. Ruth continued to have passion for the churches around the world and for about 10 years she visited with Christians in Africa, Samoa, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, New Guinea, Central America and Madagascar especially after her children were grown. Ruth continued to share those mission experiences at many churches in the USA. In 1990 she was commissioned as an associate in ministry and she and her husband Don worked together as a team. Ruth loved life and shared that zeal openly. Many times she remarked, "I pray that someone might have been affected to grow as a Christian because of my life." Services will be held at Christ The King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d'Alene, ID on Saturday, February 8th at 1PM.

    Mrs. Lillian Mueller, 46, of 233 Linwood Ave., died early today in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Mueller was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda. She is survived by her husband, George J.; two sons, Robert and Earl; a daughter, Miss Ruth Mueller. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. William Wurl, and a brother, Henry Ellman. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, the Ladies’ Aid Society and Women’s Missionary League. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 P.M. in the Fretthold Funeral home, 1241 Oliver St., and at 2:30 P.M. in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Paul H. Fretthold will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery.

    MUELLER - Mrs. Augusta Mueller, 82, died in her home, 60 Old Falls Blvd., this morning after a long illness. Mrs. Mueller was born in Walmore and was a resident of North Tonawanda for the past 54 years. Mrs. Mueller is survived by her husband Otto; two sons, Carl and George Mueller; three sisters, Mrs. Edward Mueller, Mrs. John Ferchen of Bergholz and Mrs. George Hartman of Niagara Falls. Three grandchildren also survive. Services will be at 2 P.M. Thursday at the Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. The Rev. Theophilus Berner will officiate. Interment in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery.

    HERMAN C. ELLMAN
    Herman C. Ellman, 55 years old, 84 Washington street, died this morning at the DeGraff Memorial hospital after a month's illness. Born in Germany, he was brought to America by his parents at the age of six months. He has since resided in St. Johnsburg and North Tonawanda. He was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran church, the Men's club and the Athletic club of the church. Surviving are a wife, Emma, nee Strassburg; a son, Henry; a daughter, Mrs. George J. Mueller; three grandchildren, parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Ellman; a brother, Gustav, Niagara Falls, and a sister, Mrs. William Urtel, North Tonawanda. Rites will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence and at 2:30 from the St. Mark's church. Rev. Paul Fretthold will officiate and burial will be in St. Mark's cemetery
