DOUGLAS' OBITUARY

Douglas Charles Betts Sr. of Wilson NY, husband of Kathleen (Schrader) Betts entered into rest on February 4, 2021 at home. Doug was born in Niagara Falls on February 24, 1947.  The youngest of five children of the late Victor Sr. and Beatrice Betts.  Father of Nicole (Gary Snyder), Doug Jr. (Stacey Sabo), and Jodie (Mark Thrush). Grandfather of Joshua, Isabella, Paige, Addison, Austin, Tyler, Mitchel, Stacy, and 5 great grandchildren. Brother of Victor Jr., Bertha, and the late William and Beatrice. Doug enjoyed his feline friends Big Girl and Midnight, attending car cruises with his cruiser friends, and watching NHRA and Nascar races. Doug worked at E & R Machine Inc for 30 years. His sense of humor will surely be missed as his famous words were "Don't worry about".  
 
Visitation will be Monday, February 8th from 4pm - 7pm at Rutland Corwin Funeral Home, Inc. Newfane NY.  A private burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to WNY Pet's Alive.

Kathleen (daughter of SCHRADER, Arnold R and MAYNARD, Thelma I) was born on 30 Dec 1946 in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY; died on 14 Nov 2022 in Town of Wilson, Niagara County, NY. Kathleen May (Schrader) Betts of Wilson NY, wife of the late Douglas Charles Betts entered into rest on November 14, 2022. Kathy was born in Niagara Falls on December 30,1946, daughter of the late Arnold and Thelma Schrader. Mother of Nicole (Gary Snyder), Doug Jr (Stacey Sabo), and Jodie (Mark Thrush). Grandmother of Joshua, Isabella, Paige, Addison, Austin, Tyler, Mitchel, Stacy and 6 great grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Craig Schrader, several cousins, nieces and nephews, and her dear friend Judy Frerichs.


Kathy graduated from Wilson Central in1964 and married her high school sweetheart Doug on August 24, 1968. Kathy and Doug enjoyed their classic cars and cruising with their cruiser friends through the years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crafting, and taking trips to Walmart followed by lunch with her friend Judy. Kathy was a 50+ year member of the Wilson Ladies Auxiliary and known for her love of purple and her purple glass collection, She will be missed by her kitty Big Girl.


Family and friends may call at the Rutland Corwin Funeral Home, Inc. Newfane NY on Friday, November 18th from 3pm-7pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 am at Rutland-Corwin followed by a burial at Greenwood Cemetery, Wilson NY.

WILSON - The Exley Methodist Church
was the setting for the marriage of Miss
Kathleen May Schrader and Douglas Charles
Betts Saturday. (Aug. 24, 1968). The Rev.
Harold Faba officiated at the 3 p.m. double
ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Arnold Schrader, 165 Lake St. and the
bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Betts, 131 Lake St.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride
wore a gown of gardenia white starched
organza trimmed with a Chantilly lacv border.
The gown was fashioned with a scoop neckline,
tapered sleeves and bouffant skirt which ter-
minated in a chapel length train. A double
crown of Venise lace accented with pearls
caught her silk illusion bouffant veil and she.
carried a cascade of white carnations and
ivy centered with Ian orchid.
Mrs. Larry Bulmer was matron of honor.
She wore a gown of orchid lace and chiffon
with a sleeveless coat accented with satin
Dior bows at the shoulders. A coronet of
flowers held her four tier veil and she carried
a cascade of white carnations.
Similarly attired were the bridesmaids,
Mrs. Wayne Everett and Miss Cynthia
Seefeldt.
Larry- Bulmer was best man for his
brother. Ushers were Victor A. Betts Jr.,
brother of the bridegroom and Craig Schrader,
brother of the bride.
A reception was held in the Wilson Fire
Hall after the ceremony. Upon their return
from a wedding trip to Cape Cod and the
.New England States the couple will make
their home in Harbor Trailer Park.

Thelma (daughter of MAYNARD, Joseph A and HECHT, Wilhelmina) was born on 11 Jan 1916 in Town of Wilson, Niagara County, NY; died on 28 Jul 1970 in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY. Schrader, 54. of 165 Lake St.,
here, died Tuesday (July 28,
1970) at Memorial Medical
Center, where she had been a
patient for the last six weeks.
Born in this town, Jan. 11.
1916, t!h e daughter of Joseph
A. and Wilhemina Hecht
Maynard, she attended public
school here.
Survivors include her
widower. Arnold R. Schrader;
a son, Craig, at home, and a
daughter, Mrs. D o u g l as
(Kathleen) Betts. of here; two
sisters. Mrs. William (Dorothy)
Amsbill of Youngstown and
Mrs. Russell (Geraldine) Schef-
fler of Wilson, and a nice.
Beginning Wednesday, friends
may call at the Hamilton and
Clark Funeral Chapel, Wilson,
where the family will be
present from 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held
Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
Allen Goss officiating. Burial be
in Greenwood C e m e t e r y,
Wilson.
Memorial contributions to the
Heart Fund would be acceptable
as tributes, the family said

WILSON-Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Schrader. Lake
Street, were guests of honor at a Silver Anniversary
party at the home of their niece, Mrs: Clarence Seefeldt
and Mr. Seefeldt.
Mr. and Mrs. Schrader were married June 26,
1937, in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church,
North Ridge. Mr. and Mrs. William Amsdill, Youngstown,
attendants at the wedding, were among the
guests present at the anniversary party.
About 60 guests from Niagara Falls, Lockport,
Lewiston, Youngstown and Wilson attended the event.
Family members present ineluded Mrs. Schrader's
father, Joseph Maynard; Mr. Schrader's mother, Mrs.
Viola Schrader.

WILSON. Aug. 24 - Edward
Schrader, 63, of the East Youngs-
town road, died at the Millard Fill-
more hospital, Buffalo, today, after
a long illness.
Mr. Schrader is survived by his
wife, Mrs. Viola Volls Schrader;
two sons, Arnold and Melvin Schrader,
both of L six grand-
children and one sister, Mrs. Clare
World, this village.
The funeral plans have not been
completed.
Mr. Schrader was a native of
Wilson and was a retired farmer.
