    Obituary of Dr. Joseph Genewich, MD Joseph E. Genewich, MD passed away June 11, 2015. Born in Elmira on December 5, 1925 he was the son of Joseph and Josephine (Bernas) Genewich. Joseph served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946 during WW II. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Buffalo Medical School graduating in 1952. Joseph served his internship from 1952 to 1953 at Bellevue Hospital and his residency in Internal Medicine from 1953 to 1956 at the EJ Meyer Memorial Hospital now known as Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo. He began his private practice in Lockport in 1956 and returned to ECMC in 1958 for a residency in cardiology of which Joseph was the first cardiology resident. While practicing in Lockport he initiated the Intensive Care Unit, the first in Niagara County and taught evening classes to the nursing staff educating them to understand ICU therapy. He also instituted the temporary pacemaker capability, echocardiography and stress testing, and instituted a citywide CPR education with the Red Cross. Joseph served as Chief of Staff of Lockport Memorial Hospital for several years, was a HEART member (Terror Response Team), member of the Niagara County Chamber of Commerce, member of CHCF initiated for the survival of LMH and was also a volunteer with Niagara Hospice in his retirement years. Joseph enjoyed woodworking, hunting, traveling, gardening and cooking.Joseph is survived by his wife of 64 years Imogene R. (Williams) Genewich of Lockport; father of David (Camille), Bruce (Sally), Brian Genewich, Gretchen (Paul) Labbe, and Judy (Roger) Fitch.Private graveside services were held in Cold Springs Cemetery.

    Imogene W. Genewich passed away on Friday March 24, 2023.  Imogene was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Annie Williams. She graduated from Lockport High School and Lasell College. She later attended the University of Buffalo after which she worked as a medical technologist at Buffalo General Hospital. While there she met and then married her husband Joseph E. Genewich before becoming the loving mother of five children.  She enjoyed curling, tennis and traveling.
    Imogene is survived by children David (Camille) Genewich, Gretchen (Paul) Labbe, Brian Genewich, Judy (Roger) Fitch.  She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Joseph E. Genewich, son Bruce (Sally) Genewich and her sister Annabeth (Robert) Bergen.
    There will be no prior visitation.  A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations to the Niagara County SPCA would be appreciated. Online condolences at www.pruddenandkandt.com.

    Store Head Dies at 76
    Lockport - A retired president of a department store here, Ferdinand B. Williams, 76, of 23 Spruce St., died today (Jan. 3, 1961) at Lockport Memorial Hospital. Mr. Williams had been president of Williams Bros.vDepartment Store until his retirement about 10 years ago, He was born Sept. 15,v1884, in the town of Wheatfield,vson of the late Ferdinand A. and Lydia Williams. After education in rural schools there, Mr. Williams came to Lockport and entered the store business. He built up a general dry goods store in Main Street to a large department store. Mr. Williams was a member of Emmanuel Methodist Church and the Lockport Rotary Club. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lotta E. Williams; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Bergen of Williamsville and Mrs. Joseph E. Genewich, of Lockport; three sisters, Mrs. John Proefrock, of Tonawanda, Mrs. Fred Lindke, of Buffalo,and Mrs. Rudolph Milleville, of Niagara Falls, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at he Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home by Rev. Robert C. Root of Emmanuel Methodist Church. Burial will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.The family said donations to the heart Fund are acceptable as tributes

    Lockport Club Woman Is Dead
    LOCKPORT, March 30.-Mrs. Annie A. Williams, wife of Ferdinand B. Williams, died late last night at her home, 29 Spruce street. She was prominent in the First Presbyterian church and its societies. She was also a member of the Y.W.C.A.. the Garden club, the Lewis Parliamentary Law club and the Clio club. Besides her husband, who is a member of the firm of Williams Brothers Department store, he (sic) leaves two daughters, Annabeth and Imogene Williams; her mother, Mrs. Henry Koehn, and one brother, Otte Koehn, all of this city. Private funeral services will be hold Sunday afternoon at the home, with interment in Cold Springs cemetery.

    BERGHOLTZ, March 7 - Ferdinand August Williams, 86 years old a resident of the Town of Wheatfield for the past 81 years, died vesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter. Mrs. John Proefrock. 9 Fremont street, North Tonawanda where he had been making his home for the past few months. Born in Bergholtz, Germany Mr. Williams came to this country when five years old with his parents. Since then he had made his home in Bergholtz and vicinity operating an extensive farm. He is survived by three sons. John and Ferdinand, of Lockport, and Philip A., of Niagara Falls, three daughters, Mrs. Proefrock, of North Tonawanda, Mrs. Fred W. Lindke. of Medina, and Mrs. Rudolph Mlllevllle, of Niagara Falls; 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a brother, Gustav Williams, of Sanborn. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Proefroc.k home and at 2:30 at St. James' church in this village, The Rev. Otto Bruss will officiate and interment will be in St. James' cemetery, Bergholtz.

    WILLIAMS-Lydia, aged 73 years, wife of Ferdinand A. Williams, departed this life at noon Oct. 22nd. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband, three sons and four daughters, John F. and Ferdinand B. of Lockport and Philip A. of this city, Mrs. Albert De Vantier of St. Johnsburg, Mrs. John Proefrock of Tonawanda. Mrs. Rudolph Melville (sic) of La Salle. Miss Helena Williams of Lockport, one sister and four brothers and 19 grandchildren survive her. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 25th at 2 :00 o'clock from her late residence and 2 :30 from St. Jacobi church at Bergholz. Rev. O. Bruss officiating.
