Jim is survived by his son James Kardias, two stepchildren, Cherylyn Leverich Benson (Sean), Walter Leverich, grandchildren, Michael, Ryan, James, Olivia, Ryder and Emma. He also leaves behind a nephew, Mark Liphardt, niece, Chrissy Liphardt Sforza and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Tina Liphardt.
Jim was born on June 6, 1946 in the Bronx, NY to Michael and Josephine Kardias. He graduated from Carmel High School in 1964. Jim proudly served as a United States Marine and received several medals, including the Presidential Unit Citation and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1968. His patriotism and the discipline he learned in the Marines never left him – as friends and family can attest. Jim proceeded to join his family’s business at Tina’s Bar and Restaurant and made a lifetime career there. His success in business can be directly attributed to his work ethic, which he took tremendous pride in.
Several years ago, Jim moved south to Florida so he could enjoy his retirement. His days were spent doing what he was most passionate about, play golf.
