    Notes:

Mercurio ‘Mickey’ Porto, 69, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on April 1, 2021 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Rosa and the late Vincenzo ‘Vincent’ Porto.
Mickey was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.  On July 26, 1975, he married Kathryn ‘Kathy’ A. (Walerowicz) Porto at Our Lady of Lebanon Church.  He was employed for 45 years at the former Carborundum Corporation, now St. Gobain, as a machinist.
Mickey enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved to fish, bike, jog, swim and plant his garden every spring. He looked forward to his daily newspaper to complete the crossword puzzles, especially on Sundays. He was an avid sports fan, The New York Yankees being his Favorite team. Mickey coached his son’s baseball team for a number of years. He would also never miss an opportunity to be at his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was also a self-taught musician, playing both the keyboard and accordion. Mickey would always find a creative way to solve any situation, which is why so many relied on him.
Knowing Mickey, you knew how friendly and outgoing he was. He was loyal to his friends and family. He had a heart of gold and he would give you the shirt off his back. All around, Mickey was the most loving and caring person you would ever meet. He especially loved doing fun activities with his grandchildren, and watching his youngest granddaughter Eliana was the highlight of his week.   Above all, his life centered around his family, his grandchildren being his greatest joy.
In addition to his mother and wife of 45 years, Mickey is survived by his children, Eileen (David) Pacana, Marcy (Chris) Falzone, and Michael Porto; his grandchildren, Alexandra, Evan, Meghan, and Eliana whom he adored; his siblings, MaryAnn (Cesare) Forgione and Anthony (Elaine) Porto, and his sister-in-law Sharlene (late Gordon) Silverthorne, as well as several nieces and cousins.
Mickey’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 6 at 12 Noon at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301.  Everyone please assemble at church.  Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.  Arrangements by M.J.
