Obituary of Agnes Townsend

Agnes M. Townsend passed away August 26, 2021 under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born September 22, 1944 in Lockport she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Fabian) Fura.  Agnes was a seamstress for the Western New York Blind Association in Buffalo.  She enjoyed playing the organ, sewing, listening to country music.  Her greatest joy cam from raising her children and seeing her grandchildren grow into fine adults.  She was a beautiful person and had only kind words for every person she knew.  We (her family) were blessed to have her in our lives.  She will be forever loved and missed.   Agnes was predeceased by her husband Raymond P. Townsend in 1979, two sons Paul Raymond and Tony Ray Townsend, and siblings Joseph Fura and Mary Ann (late Jose) Quintana.
Agnes is survived by her children Joseph F. (Linda) Townsend, Ray Thomas Townsend, and Tina Rae Townsend; grandchildren Angela, Amber, Amanda, Alyssa, Andrew, Raymond, Thomas, Joseph, Crystal, Jonathan, Hunter, Cherylynn, and Carissa; great grandchildren Olivia, Arya, and Toni Rae; siblings John (Jean) Fura, William (Cathy) Fura, Edward (Bruce) Fura, Catherine (late James) Behm, Nellie (late Wayne) Haseley, Christine (Carol) Fura; sister-in-law Linda Fura; also several nieces and nephews.

LOCKPORT — Helen R. (Schuler) Townsend, age 93, of Lockport, entered into rest on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Niagara Hospice House. Born September 14, 1916 in Cambria, NY, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Keller) Schuler. Helen was a graduate of Lockport High School. She married Raymond W. Townsend on May 31, 1939 in Wilson. Mr. Townsend died on November 1, 1998. Helen had worked at Mt. View Health Facility in Lockport as a cook. She retired in 1978 after 13 years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, sewing, baking and gardening. Helen had lived most of her life in Lockport. Loving mother of Nancy French of Newfane, Donna Parmley of Lockport and Anne (Rodger) George of Lockport; a son predeceased Helen, Raymond P. Townsend; sister of Elmer Schuler of Cambria and Thelma Berst of North Carolina and the late Alton Schuler, Donald Schuler, Alice Hammer and Vira Schuler; 12 grandchildren, 23 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and her canine friend, Sara, also survives her. of Helen Schuler Hiam, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schuler, of
Cambria Center, to Raymond W.
Townsend, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar
Townsend, of Sanborn, was solemnised
at 13 o'clock noon, May 31,
at the rectory of the Immaculate
Conception church here. The Rev.
Father Edward Roche officiated.
Miss Helen Townsend, of Sanborn,
and Clarence A. Townsend,
of Lockport, sister and brother of
the groom, were the couple's only
attendants.
Mr. and Mrs. Townsend will make
their home In Lockport.

Settlement Road, died
Sunday (Dec. 16, 1962) at Niagara
Falls Memorial Hospital;
after an illness of two years.
A resident of Sanbom for
35 years, Mr. Townsend was
born in the Town of Lockport,
Sept. 21 1885, son of Morris
and Emily Wallace Townsend.
He operated furms in various
sections of the county during
his early life. Then, for 30
years, he had been employed
by the State Highway Department,
retiring about two years
ago.
His wife, the former Berth
Reed, died in 1955.
Mr. Townsend was a member
of St. Luke's Episcopal
Church in Brockport.

After Extended Illness
SANBORN, July 26—Mrs. Edgar
J. Townsend, 67, of Saundert
Settlement Rd., died yesterday (July
25, 1955) in Lockport City Hospital
after an extended illness.
She was born in the Town of
Ogden, Monroe County, on Jan.
22, 1888, daughter of the late
Albert and Carrie Reed. After
her marriage, she lived in Brockport
for eight years. She was a
member of St. Luke's Episcopal
Church there.
In addition to her husband, she
is survived by four sons, Donald
Townsend, Niagara Falls, Clarence
A. Townsend, Lockport, Raymond
Townsend, North Ridge, and Wilson
Townsend, at home; a daughter,
Miss Helen M. Townsend, at
home; and a sister, Mrs. G. A.
Hiam, Niagara Falls.
Services will be held at 2 p.m.
Thursday at the Pike Funeral
home. Burial will be in North
Ridge Cemetery.

SANBORN, Oct. 21—Miss Helen
Townsend entertained at a family
dinner party at Lyon's Tea room
in honor of the Forty-fifth wedding
anniversary of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Edgar Townsend, Townline
road. The table was centered with a
tiered wedding cake. Appropriate
music was played on the organ during
the dinner and "Oh Promise
Me," was sung by the soloist.
Mrs. Townsend wore a corsage of
mums and Mr. Townsend a carnation
bouttonaire presented by their
eldest son, Clarence, and his wife.
Edgar Townsend. formerly of
Cambria Center, and the former
Bertha Reed, West Sweden, were
united in. marriage, October 16, 1907
at the home of the bride, by the
Rev. W. H. G. Lewis, who was rector
of St. Luke's Episcopal church,
Brockport, of which both were members,

The bride was attended by her sister.
Mrs. Gilbert Hiam, Pekin, as
maid pi honor and Mrs. Otto Hemline,
Darian Center, sister of the
bridegroom, as ring bearer. Clarence
M. Townsend, Town of Niagara,
was his brother's best man. The
wedding music was played by John
Liese, Rochester a cousin of Mrs.
Townsend. The couple made their
home in Brockport moving to Niagara
county in 1915.
Mr. and Mrs. Townsend are the
parents of four sons, Clarence A.,
Lockport: Donald, Niagara Falls;
Raymond, Cambria Center and Wilson,
Sanborn, and one daughter,
Helen, who resides with her parents.
They also have 19 grandchildren.

75, of 3252 Lower Mountain
Road, Cambria Center, died Friday
(March 8, 1968) in Niagara
Falls Memorial Hospital after
a lengthy illness.

farm on Lower Mountain Road
which he operated for 40 years
until his retirement in 1955.

Born in Swormsville, Feb. 9, 1897,
Mrs. Schuler was the daughter of
Henry and Teresa Schuchert Keller.
She attended St. Mary's parochial
school, Swormsville, and was
a member of St. Mary's Church,
Lockport.
In addition to her husband, she
is survived by four daughters,
Mrs. Raymond Townsend, North
Ridge, Mrs. Vira. Schuler, Pendleton,
and Mrs. Joseph Hammer,
Middleport, Mrs. Robert Berst,
Tonawanda; four sons. Alton F.
Schuler, Wilson and Elmer H.
Schuler Jr., Cambria; a sister, Mrs.
