    OBITUARY

    Of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away after a courageous battle on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY.   He was born in North Tonawanda, NY,  on July 16, 1948, the son of the late James and Dorothy [Harms] Hines.
    His family moved to Niagara Falls, where he attended local schools and graduated from Niagara County Community College and had  completed  additional courses  at UB. 
    Jim served with the US Army, during the Vietnam War.   
    He worked for local companies including Washington Mills, General Abrasives, Carborundum, before retiring from UNIFRAX as a master technician in 2013.   
    Jim was a life long member of the Community of Christ Church, where he was an ordained minister.  He was a man of great faith and had performed several weddings and funerals.
    Jim loved woodworking and fixing things.

    He was the husband of the love of his life, the late Patricia N. [Hamam] Hines, who passed away in March of 2011, they were married on February 23, 1974.

    Jim is survived by daughter Kristen N. (fiance Dave Holliday) Hines, a sister Cheryl Hines, also many nieces, nephews and friends. He was the brother of the late Elaine Hines.

    His family will be present on Sunday from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM.

    Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to Niagara Hospice.
    Interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.

    August Harms Dies
    NORTH TONAWANDA - August H. Harms, 75, died Monday night at his home, 798 East Robinson street. He was born in Germany and had been a resident of North Tonawanda for the last 53 years. He leaves his wife, Mary, nee Wittkopf; six sons, Charles, Edward, Alfred, George and Benjamin, of North Tonawanda and Theodore of Williamsville; a daughter, Mrs. Gustav Ewald, of North Tonawanda; 17 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence and at 2:30 o'clock at the St. Peter's church on Thompson street. The Rev. Earl Papke will officiate and burial will be in St. Matthew's cemetery.

    NORTH TONAWANDA, Sept. 21 - Mrs. Mary A. Harms, widow of August Harms, 798 East Robinson St., died yesterday at her home after a short illness. Born in Germany, she had lived here for 79 years. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gustave Ewald; six sons, Charles, Edward, Alfred, George and Benjamin Harms all of this city, and Theodore Harms, Williamsville; a sister, Mrs. Anna Grosskopf, this city, and one brother, Edward Witkopf, Alden. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Wattengel Funeral Home and at 2:30 o'clock at St. Peter's American Lutheran Church. Interment will be in St. Matthew's cemetery.
