    Maxine M. Casey, 78, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in N.F. Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Frank G. and Evelyn (Scalzo) Syracuse.
    Maxine attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On September 9, 1961 she married her beloved husband, James C. Casey at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Mr. Casey predeceased her on September 18, 2020 after 59 cherished years together.
    Maxine was employed by the N.F. Board of Education as a child care associate. She worked in the day care center taking care of infants a job she loved and adored, she also worked in the cafeteria and was a personal care aide. She had a special place in her heart for children and loved her time at the board of education for many years until retirement. 
    Maxine and her husband were longtime members of the National Chevelle Automotive Association. Together they enjoyed attending local car shows, and spending time at Goat Island and Olcott Park. Maxine also enjoyed bingo, scratching lottery tickets and going to the Casino. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family. Maxine had the best sense of humor she always knew how to get her family and friends to laugh and smile, her jokes will forever be missed by her family. 
    Mrs. Casey is survived by her children, Geraldine Casey, Denise Eugeni and James Casey; eight grandchildren, Alison (Darrell) Borkenhagen, Danielle (Joseph) Roulley, Deanna (Evan) Holme, Patrick Eugeni, Cara Eugeni, Aleigha Casey, Ayden Casey and Avery Casey; her great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Brooklyn, Darren and Adalyn Borkenhagen, and Levi John and Jackson Carlton Roulley; two siblings, Geraldine (late Robert) Harrigan and late Vincenette  (late Robert “Bud”) Dobson, as well as many nieces and nephews. 
    Maxine’s Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 15 at 10:00 AM in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.

    Luigi Scalzo, 81, of 2780
    Niagara St.. died Saturday
    (Sept. 4, 1965) at Mount St.
    Mary's Hospital
    a f t e r a
    short illness.
    Mr. Scalzo
    was born in
    Italy Jan. 15,
    1884 and
    came to the
    United States
    and to Niagara
    Falls in
    1900. He operated
    neigh-
    borhood theaters
    here for
    40 years and
    operated a shoe repair shop
    in Niagara Street at the
    time of his retirement in
    1949.
    He was a musician and
    one of the founders of the
    Scalzo Band that played in
    Niagara Falls during the
    1920s and 1930s.
    Mr. Scalzo is survived by
    one son, Joseph Scalzo,
    Niagara Falls, and seven
    daughters, Mrs. Carl (Dorothy)
    Guidotti, Mrs. Frank
    (Evelyn) Syracusa, Mrs.
    Frank (Brandy) Bellavia,
    Mrs. Frank (Anetta) Cottet,
    Mrs. Jack (Anne) Waldriff,
    Mrs. Sam (Loretta) Musolino
    and Mrs. Charles (Ruth)
    Terrana, all of Niagara
    Falls.
    Thirty-seven grandchildren
    and 16 great-grandchildren
    also survive. He was
    predeceased by his wife,
    Irene Logan Scalzo, in 1935
    and a son, Louis Scalzo,
    North Tonawanda, in 1963.
    Services will be held at
    the Magaddino Memorial
    Chapel Inc., at 9:45 a.m.
    Tuesday and at St. Joseph's
    Church at 10:15 a.m. Burial
    will be in St. Joseph's
    Cemetery.
    * Friends may call at the
    funeral chapel from 2 to 5
    and 7 to 10 p.m. today and
    Monday.
