Generation: 2

    Notes:

Dennis "Denny" Daniel Scouler, age 78, formerly of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away February 1, 2022, after a six-year battle with lung cancer. Dennis was born March 17, 1943, in Niagara Falls, NY, to Scottish immigrants Mable and Daniel Scouler; and was brother of the late William Scouler.
Dennis is survived by Judy his wife of 55 years; his children, Timothy and Danielle; and grandchildren, Abigail and Lillian; as well as extended family and friends.
Denny graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1961 and Ohio University in 1965. He was a standout high school and college athlete. In high school, he was voted all-conference in baseball, basketball and football, basketball co-captain and was the 1961 Billy Kelly Award recipient. In 1997, he was voted into the Niagara Falls School District Hall of Fame in football, basketball and baseball. While at Ohio University, he received All-M.A.C. Baseball First Team honors in 1964 and 1965 and captained the Bobcats 1965 M.A.C. Championship baseball team. As captain of the Ohio University baseball team his humility, contagious friendship and leadership qualities were instrumental in leading the team to unprecedented national recognition.
Dennis proudly served in the United States Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky, achieving rank of First Lieutenant (Tactical Officer, Company B, Officer Candidate Brigade; Platoon Leader, Company A and B; Executive Officer, Headquarters and Headquarters Company and Assistant S2/S3, Headquarters, 4th Battalion, School Brigade, US Army Armor School) and was a recipient of The Army Commendation Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1968.
In 1983, Denny started Dennis Scouler and Associates, an HVAC manufacturer's representative company covering central PA for Baltimore Aircoil Company and was the principal owner until his retirement in 2007. He was well respected for his integrity, knowledge, and customer service, earning national sales recognition and awards on multiple occasions.
Denny was most famous for his love of golf. A longtime member of Harrisburg Country Club, if he wasn't on the course, he was at the range. And if he wasn't at the range, he was watching on TV. He was very competitive on the course, but also patient and generous while playing. He recorded an amazing six holes-in-one during his career.
Dennis had a tremendous zeal for life with a unique sense of humor and appreciation for family, friends, and community. He enjoyed wine and his wife's home cooking. He enjoyed college sports and was an avid Duke basketball fan. He will be remembered most as a great friend, mentor, father, grandfather, and husband.
