GLENWOOD L. MAERTEN, age 93 of Wheatfield, NY, entered into rest peacefully on February 5, 2022, while at the Elderwood at Wheatfield facility. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on August 2, 1928; son of the late Leonard and Evelyn (Broker) Maerten. After serving his country as a Marine, he started working as a plumber, and in 1965 he formed his own plumbing contracting company, and worked until his retirement at the age of his mid 70's. Glenwood was a founding member of the Wheatfield Plumbing Board, and served as a plumbing inspector. Glenwood was a charter member of the Wheatfield Lion's Club. He enjoyed eating out, loved spending months during the winter, at his home in Cape Coral, Florida.He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary (nee Rehm) of 67 years; a brother, Kenneth Maerten; and sister, Dorothy Meyers.Survivors include a son, Daniel Maerten; daughter, Cheryl (Thomas) Encao; grandchildren, Corrine Bristol, Trevin Maerten, Daniel Encao, and Anthony (Becky) Encao; great-grandchildren, Leia Bristol, Kendyl Bristol, and Nickolas Encao; and many nieces and nephews.The visitation and services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are with the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield.

Mary A. Maerten (nee Rehm) age 87, of  Wheatfield NY, passed away suddenly and peacefully March 8, 2020 at her winter home in Cape Coral , Florida where her family recently vacationed there . She was the daughter of the late Carl and Corrinna (Houle) Maerten. Mary was a resident of the Town of Wheatfield . She was a dedicated volunteer for many years for St. Vincent DePaul, Shea's Buffalo and Artpark . Mary enjoyed tending to her garden , spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. Survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Glenwood Maerten, dearest mother of Daniel Maerten and Cheryl (Thomas) Encao.  Loving grandmother of Corrine Bristol, Trevin Maerten and Anthony ( Becky) Encao, great-grandmother of Leia Bristol , Kendyl Bristol and Jake Encao. Predeceased by brother Albert) Rehm and cherished sister Rita Dohm, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary’s Memorial Mass on Saturday July 18, 2020 at 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Church 1055 Military Rd. Niagara Falls, NY.
