    Passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the age of 87.
    Born on December 25, 1933 in Clearfield, PA, he was the son of the late Earl and Cora (Woods) Kanouff. He married Ellen Shildhauer in 1952 and they were together until her death in February 1982. He married Mary Gass in 1999 and she preceded him in death in February 2019.
    In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles. Four sisters, Anna Lansberry, Mildred Smeal, Martha Albert, Alice Babcock and two brothers, Doyle Kanouff and Floyd Kanouff.
    He is survived by six daughters, Janice Haak of Albertville, AL. Lorna (Jim) Storey of Niagara Falls, NY. Lisa Ryver of Morgan, UT. Grace Sims of Niagara Falls, NY. Brenda (Chris) Bergeron of Niagara Falls, NY. Rachel (Lynette Kollie) Kanouff of Niagara Falls, NY. And three sons, Walter (Kim) Kanouff of South Daytona, FL. William (Gene Biller) Kanouff of Tampa, FL. Daniel Kanouff of Tampa, FL.
    Survived by 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Gerald was in the US Navy from November 1951 – October 1954 where he served on the USS Borie (DD-704) and USS Henley (DD-762). He then worked at Hooker/Occidental Chemical from which he retired after 35 years.
    Gerald lived in several states across the country throughout his life and finally settled on Daytona Beach, FL where he could be nearer to his youngest sister Yvonne.
    There will be a visitation on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 2-5pm at Cardwell, Baggett & Summers Funeral Home, 301 Big Tree Road, Daytona Beach, FL. Gerald will then be cremated per his request.

    Mae Schildhauer as she was united
    in marriage to S.-M.-Gerald Joseph
    Kanouff last Saturday.
    The candlelight ceremony, in
    tWhich the daughter of Mr. and Mn.
    Walter Schildhauer, 91st St., was
    married to the son of Mr. and Mrs.
    Earl Kanouff, Pine Ave., took
    place at Zion Evangelical Lutheran
    Church with the Rev. L. E. Herfurth
    officiating.
    Escorted to the altar by her
    father, the bride wore a gown of
    candlelight satin and lace with a
    fitted bodice fashioned with a satin
    bertha, coljar and long sleeves1 of
    lace. The circular skirt fanned out
    into' a cathedral-length train.' She
    carried a white Bible topped with
    an orchid and streamers tied with
    lilies-of-the-valley,
    Mrs. John Andrews, matron-ofbonor
    for her sister, wore a gown
    of Nile green satin and carried a
    bouquet of red roses and yellow
    and white pompons. On her hair
    was a circlet of green leaves with
    a short veil.
    The bridesmaids, Mrs. William
    Schildhauer and Miss Yvonne Kanouff,
    sister of the bridegroom,
    wore matching gowns of fuchsia
    satin, fashioned in lines similar to
    the bridal gown. They' wore headpieces
    of fuchsia leaves and carried
    colonial bouquets of yellow
    roses and white pompons.
    The bridegroom chose as his
    best man, S. M. Charles Hazen,
    with Mr. William Schildhauer,
    brother of the bride, and Mr. Marvin
    Smeal, nenhew of the bridegroom,
    acting as ushers.
    After the double ring ceremony,
    a reception was held in the church
    hall. The mother of the bride wore
    a dress of peacock, blue crepe with
    black accessories. The bridegroom's
    mother chose a powder blue dress
    with black accessories. Each mother
    completed her ensemble with a
    corsage of yellow pompons.
    For their wedding trip to Clearfield,
    Pa., the bride departed in an
    aqua wool jersey dress with
    leopard accessories and wore an
    orchid corsage.
    After the honeymoon, the bride
    will return to live at 819 91st St,
    while the bridegroom departs on a
    winter cruise for his last year in
    service.

    Leader in Church Work Dies at 62
    PEKIN-Walter E. Schildhauer, 62, of 2577 Upper Mountain Road, died Friday (May 7, 1965) in Niagara Falls Memorial after a brief illness
    Born in Marshville, Wis. Mr. Schildhauer had lived in the Sanborn-Pekin area for 12 years, having moved here from Niagara Falls. He was a production engineer with the Globar Division of Carborundum Co. for 38 years and was a member of the Management Club. He was a past president of the Lutheran Laymen, Niagara Zone. He also served the St. Andrew's congregation here as president. He was a member of the church council, chairman of the board of elders, a member of the evangelism committee and acted as teen-age Bible class teacher of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church until the time of his death.
    Survivors include his widow, the former Erna Meister; two daughters, Mrs. John Andrews, Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Gerald Kanouff, Sanborn; a son, William Schildhauer, Niagara Falls; a sister, Mrs. E. Kunze, Milwaukee; a brother, Edgar Voelker, Milwaukee; 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home, Sanborn, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Services will be held at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Pekin, at 2 p.m., Monday. Rev. La Verne, J. Fitch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Niagara Falls.
    The family said memorials to St. Andrew's Lutheran School fund will be acceptable as tributes.

    Erna Schildhauer Miller, 82, of Niagara Falls died yesterday (Nov. 28, 1984) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. She was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and had been a resident of this area since 1928. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Pekin. Mrs. Schildhauer was past president of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She is survived by a son, William Schildhauer of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Janette) Lemley of Niagara Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Hediger of Niagara Falls and Mrs. Olga Trapp of Milwaukee, Wis.; and 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Mrs. Ellen Kanouff. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Cayuga Drive and Pershing Avenue. Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Peter A. Wilson Funeral Chapel, 8904 S. Military Road. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions to Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund are acceptable as tribute.
