    Harold J. Bergquist “Jim” went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2022, after a long battle fighting cancer. He was born in Buffalo, NY on October 29, 1945 to the late Harold E. and Jane (Goss) Bergquist.

    Jim was a 1963 graduate of Royalton/Hartland High School. After high school he went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. He took great pride in restoring his 1953 Willy’s Army Jeep, and had been a member of MVPA (Military Vehicle Preservation Association) where he often took part in military reenactments & parades. He was especially proud of the many first place Classic Car awards his jeep received.,

    He retired from Harrison Radiator after 35 years of service. He then worked many years after establishing his own “Quest Trucking” business. Jim enjoyed boating and was an avid fisherman who often made his own fishing lures. He especially loved watching NASCAR races, college football, and the NFL; with Notre Dame & Buffalo Bills being his favorite teams.

    Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cathy (Lindke) Bergquist; his children, Jacqueline (Will) Worden, Harold “Ed” Bergquist, and Jaime Bergquist; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jim is predeceased by his brother, David Bergquist.

    A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM with a Memorial Service starting promptly at 12:00 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wolcottsville, 6369 Wolcottsville Rd, Akron, NY 14001. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's name to either Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wolcottsville, VA, or Wolcottsville Fire Department.

    Harold "Bud" Edwin Bergquist, age 88, of Lockport, entered into rest on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Briody Health Care Facility. Born on December 25, 1925 in Buffalo, Harold is the son of the late Edwin W. and Olga (Erickson) Bergquist. Harold married Jane Goss on July 18, 1944 at St. Stephen's Church in Buffalo. Jane died on November 8, 2013. Jane and Harold had been married for 69 years.
    He had worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport retiring in 1988 after 25 years. He had also worked at Loblaws as a meat manager for 20 years. An avid bowler, Harold bowled for several different teams. He enjoyed family picnics, playing pinochle, watching baseball and dining out. Jane and Harold have lived in Lockport for the past 55 years.
    Surviving Harold is a son, Harold "Jim" (Cathy) Bergquist of Wolcottsville; dear friend of Duanne and Joanne Bartz of Lockport. Harold is also survived by eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law of Linda Bergquist of Gasport and Ginger Bergquist of Tuscon, AZ. Several nieces and nephews also survive Harold. Besides his wife, Jane, Harold was predeceased by a son, David R. Bergquist, Sr.; and brothers, Roland and Donald Bergquist.
    Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, NY on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM from the funeral home. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Gasport, NY.     Jane Bergquist, age 88, of Lockport, entered into rest on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Briody Health Care Facility. Born on September 6, 1925 in Buffalo, Jane is the daughter of the late William and Anna (Puttrick) Goss.
    Jane married Harold E. Bergquist on July 18, 1944 at St Stephen's Church in Buffalo. Jane and Harold had been married for 69 years. She had worked as a baker for Roy-Hart High School for 12 years. Jane enjoyed bowling, crocheting, knitting, baking, her Kitties and spending time with her family. She loved listening to Big Band music and when she was younger, she enjoyed going to the Olcott Roller Rink to roller skate. Jane and Harold have lived in Lockport for the past 55 years, she was previously from Buffalo.
    Surviving Jane is her loving husband, Harold E. Bergquist; son, Harold "Jim" (Cathy) Bergquist of Wolcottsville; dear friend of Duanne and Joanne Bartz of Lockport. Jane is also survived by eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; and two nieces, Sally and Patricia. Jane was predeceased by a son, David R. Bergquist, Sr. and brothers, Bill and James Goss.

    LOCKPORT — Mary Lindke Newton, of Akron, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012, at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY.

    Mrs. Newton was born in the Town of Hartland on October 30, 1920, daughter of the late Henry and Nina (Prudum) Breitsman.

    She was employed as a nursing assistant at the Niagara County Infirmary. She lived in the Royalton area until 1982 when she moved to Florida, and returned to this area in 2002.

    She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville and she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Coco, FL.

    Mrs. Newton enjoyed her family, she enjoyed life and also working for Habitat for Humanity in Florida, and she also enjoyed knitting.

    She was predeceased by her first husband, August Lindke in l973, and by her second husband, Francis Newton in 2002; and by two sons, Thomas Lindke in l969, and Donald Lindke in 2008; and by a stepson, Ronald Lindke and three sisters, Pauline Fink, Doris Klepp and Edna Breitsman.

    She is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Harold) Bergquist of Akron, NY; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews and several stepchildren.

    Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport, and Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Josh McGuffie officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Wolcottsville, NY. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or Niagara Hospice would be appreciated by the Newton family.     Drive, Berne, were honored on their golden anniversary
    recently by relatives and nearly 100 friends at a reception in
    the Foxenkill Grange Hall. Married in the Swedish Lutheran
    Church of Buffalo on March 15, 1919, the couple has three
    sons, Ronald Bergquist of Rexford; Harold Bergquist of
    Lockport and Donald Bergquist of Baker, and several grandchildren.
    Mr. Bergquist had been a trucker and later worked
    at the Army Depot in Vooheesville in the salvage department.
